Need regrouting in Kingseat?

Different surfaces, different methods

Bathroom wall tiles

Whole bathroom walls can be regrouted in one visit or more, depending on the area. It’s a good time to change the grout colour.

Kitchen splashbacks

A splashback can be regrouted without touching the worktop. The joint along the worktop is resealed with silicone.

About our regrouting in Kingseat

We take the old grout out to a consistent depth, taking care not to chip the tile edges. The joints are then vacuumed, regrouted and cleaned off, and the corners get fresh silicone. We work on kitchen splashbacks, shower walls and wet rooms, and people most often call us about grout washed out of a shower and dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor.

Bathrooms in smaller places like Kingseat work just as hard as those in the cities. Limescale is less of a problem with Scotland’s generally soft water, but mould still takes hold in damp sealant and grout.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after we have gone.

When to call us in Kingseat

Grout used in corners or along the bath cracks because those joints flex. They need flexible sealant, and when they aren’t, water gets in.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
  • A grout colour that no longer suits the room
  • Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
  • Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease

For landlords with property near Dunfermline Queen Margaret station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

What your quote should include

  • What insurance they hold
  • Whether VAT is included
  • How the colour is chosen
  • What the cure time is

10 questions to ask before booking

How the visit works

On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Show us the job and we’ll take it from there. The job generally takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. For a place like Kingseat, longer drives are planned in advance. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.

  1. Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
  2. The old grout is removed to an even depth.
  3. We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
  4. We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
  5. We finish with silicone in the moving joints.

How to prepare

  • Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
  • Mention any tricky access
  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in

How we quote for regrouting

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We take into account:

  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • How many areas need sealing
  • The size of the job

Leaving a failed joint normally makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you are not sure whether it needs doing, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.

Asking for a quote

You don’t need to know the technical terms. Just tell us:

  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • If someone has resealed it before
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • The rough size of the job

There’s no standard price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, we send you a clear quote for your job. To arrange one, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Your questions about regrouting in Kingseat

Is Kingseat in your area for regrouting?

Yes, Kingseat is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing.

I let a flat near Dunfermline Queen Margaret station. Can you help?

Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as homeowners. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details for a clear quote.

Do you grout the corners?

We use silicone in corners and along edges. Grout in those joints cracks as the building moves.

Which products do you use?

We choose the sealant for the joint, not the other way round. Where it moves, gets wet or faces the weather makes a difference, and we’ll tell you what we are using.

Do I have to be there?

For indoor joints, yes, someone needs to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Yes, we can. More than one area can go on one quote.

Will you leave a mess?

We keep the work tidy. We protect what’s around the joints, and the area is left clean when we finish.

How long does regrouting take?

As a guide, most jobs take a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Bigger jobs take longer, and we’ll tell you how long to expect.

What we can’t put right

Sealant isn’t the answer to every problem, and we’d rather say so up front. Sealant won’t put right:

  • Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
  • Leaks from pipes, valves or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall

Not sure which it is? You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower walls
  • Bathroom floors

  • Tiled floors

DIY sealant or a professional job?

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We cut it out and start again.

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions.

Looking after it afterwards

No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:

  • Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
  • Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges
  • Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
  • Don’t ignore a tile that feels loose

Wipe the tiles down after a shower keeps water off the grout. Ventilate the room well to help it dry out.

Fixing grout early is a small job. Left for a few years, they can become a leak, so get it looked at when you notice it.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Kingseat

Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black. Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in.

Managing a site like Woodmill High School? Then its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.
