Regrouting in Hopeman

About our regrouting in Hopeman

Our applicators rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care not to chip the tile edges. After vacuuming, new grout goes in and the tiles are wiped clean, with silicone renewed in the corners. We work on shower walls, tiled floors and bathroom wall tiles, and people most often call us about greasy, stained grout behind the hob and grout in corners that has cracked.

In and around a place like Hopeman, homes range from older stone-built properties to newer houses. Older buildings can move a little, and that shows first in cracked grout and split sealant.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

What sealant work can’t fix

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • A floor or wall that keeps moving
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • A leaking shower valve or waste

If in doubt, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will say what we think before booking.

What we seal

  • Wet rooms
  • Bathroom floors
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Tiled floors
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Shower walls

Keeping the joints in good condition

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Keep the fan on after showering
  • Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
  • Skip wire brushes and scourers
  • Get any tile that moves checked promptly

Keep an eye on the silicone in the corners. Corners flex, so it’s generally the first thing to need attention, long before the grout does.

Leaving failed grout can mean tiles come loose. By then, new grout alone isn’t enough, so it’s worth acting early.

Hopeman: your questions answered

Can you do regrouting in Hopeman?

Yes, Hopeman is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing.

Is there a guarantee on regrouting in Hopeman?

Every job comes with our 12-month guarantee, wherever it is. We’re also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

Can you seal over the old sealant?

No. The old sealant always comes out first.

Are you ARBOMaster approved?

Yes. We are approved under the ARBOMaster scheme.

Do you work for hotels and businesses?

Yes. We work in offices, washrooms, hotels and other commercial premises, as well as homes. We can talk about working times when we quote.

Will the old sealant be removed?

Yes, every time. New silicone does not stick to old silicone, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.

What information do you need?

Let us know what needs doing and where, with pictures by email if possible. If we need more, we will ask.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are glad to have it sorted.

Hopeman homes and their sealant

Hopeman is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in.

Whether the job is in Hopeman itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish. Around Hopeman, as everywhere, regrouting is only as good as the preparation behind it.

How the job changes by surface

Bathroom floors

Cracked floor grout can point to movement underneath. We check the tiles before regrouting.

Shower walls

Most regrouting jobs include a shower. Cracked or missing grout here lets water behind the tiles.

How it works

We bring everything the job needs with us, so there’s nothing for you to buy. Once we’ve agreed what’s being done, we protect the area and start. Most jobs take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Around Hopeman, distance and access matter more than parking. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work.

  1. Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
  2. We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
  3. The joints are vacuumed clean.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. We finish with silicone in the moving joints.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
  • Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
  • Clear the area around the work

How to get a quote

There’s no standard price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, we give you a clear price for your job. To arrange one, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

What affects the cost of regrouting

Call for a quick quote. What matters most is:

  • The number of rooms or windows
  • When we can work, for business premises
  • Whether the work is at height
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out

Every job is a little different, so each one gets its own quote. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference, and we will explain the quote if you ask.

Asking for a quote

You don’t need to know the technical terms. It helps if you can tell us:

  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • The rough size of the job
  • How we’d reach the joints

For a quote, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. You’ll have a clear quote before work begins.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions.
