Regrouting in Caldercruix, North Lanarkshire
Our applicators work in Caldercruix on raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors. Old sealant removed completely, joints prepared properly and every job guaranteed for a year.
- Grout washed out of a shower
- Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
- Grout that is cracking and breaking up
How we handle regrouting in Caldercruix
When grout stays dark however much you clean it, the stain is often in the grout itself. Replacing it is the lasting answer and you can pick a different colour while you’re at it. We work on bathroom floors, tiled floors and shower walls, and people most often call us about crumbling grout between the tiles and cracked grout along the bath or tray.
Bathrooms in smaller places like Caldercruix work just as hard as those in the cities. Generally soft Scottish water means less limescale, but steam still lets mould into sealant and grout.
All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, in Caldercruix and everywhere else we cover.

How it works
Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. Typically it takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. For a place like Caldercruix, longer drives are planned in advance. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.
- First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
- We remove the old grout carefully.
- The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
- We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
- Internal corners and edges are resealed.
Preparing for the visit

Should I try it myself first?
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Caldercruix
Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in.
For an older house near a landmark such as Longriggend And Meadowfield Church, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. Rented homes near Caldercruix station change hands often, and a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

What happens if it’s left?
Bleach can lighten stained grout for a while, but mould that has got into grout usually comes back. New grout, with silicone in the corners, deals with the cause. In a place like Caldercruix, small leaks are easy to put off, but water through a failed joint keeps working away until it’s fixed.
Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.

Different surfaces, different methods
Shower walls
Shower walls are the most common area we regrout. Gaps here let water get behind the tiling.
Wet rooms
Regrouting a wet room helps keep water on the surface of the tiles. It does not repair failed tanking underneath.
Looking after it afterwards
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Wipe water off the walls when you’re done
- Stick to mild products for cleaning grout
- Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
- Don’t use strong acidic cleaners on grout
If a tile starts to feel loose, get it looked at early. A loose tile cracks the grout around it and open a path for water.
Grout that stays dark after cleaning is starting to fail. Regrouting at this stage is straightforward, before the joints open up.
