Aberlemno Regrouting
Problem with your tiled areas in Aberlemno? We remove the old material, prepare the joints and seal them properly, with a 12-month guarantee.
- Crumbling grout between the tiles
- Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
- Floor grout that will not come clean
What the job involves on each surface
Kitchen splashbacks
We can regroute a splashback with the kitchen left in place. The joint along the worktop is resealed with silicone.
Bathroom wall tiles
Walls outside the shower get less water but grout there still discolours. New grout freshens them up.
Regrouting for homes and businesses in Aberlemno
When grout stays dark however much you clean it, the discolouration has usually soaked into the grout. New grout is the fix that lasts, and it’s a chance to change the colour too. We work on bathroom floors, shower walls and bathroom wall tiles, and the jobs we see most are grout in corners that has cracked and crumbling grout between the tiles.
In and around a place like Aberlemno, homes range from older stone-built properties to newer houses. Older buildings can move a little, and that shows first in cracked grout and split sealant.
There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job.

What else we do in Aberlemno
Why it’s worth doing now in Aberlemno
Once grout cracks, water can get behind the tiling. Left alone, that water can loosen tiles or damage the wall, which turns a regrout into a retile. Dealing with it now keeps it small. In an older home around Aberlemno, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.
Leaving a failed joint normally makes the job bigger, not smaller, as water and mould keep getting in. If you’re unsure, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you an honest view and a quote.

What affects the quote in Aberlemno
The quote reflects the job in front of us. We take into account:
- Whether the work is at height
- When we can work, for business premises
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- Which sealant suits the joint
Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all play a part, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.
Asking for a quote
You don’t need to know the technical terms. Just tell us:
- Whether it has been sealed before
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
- How we’d reach the joints
- The address or postcode of the job
A good description makes for an accurate quote. Let us know the location, the problem and roughly how many joints, and add photos by email if you can.
When it isn’t the sealant
We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:
- Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
- A structure that flexes behind the tiles
- Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
If in doubt, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think before booking.
What we seal
- Shower walls
- Bathroom floors
- Wet rooms

DIY versus a professional finish
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
Regrouting in Aberlemno: local notes
Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in.
In the older streets around Aberlemno Parish Church, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.

Before we arrive

What we are called out for in Aberlemno
Strong cleaning products and hard scrubbing slowly erode grout. Bleach and acidic limescale removers can attack it with repeated use, leaving the joints sunken and rough.
Common reasons people contact us include:
- Cracked grout along the bath or tray
- Gaps where the shower grout has gone
- Grout that makes sound tiles look old
- Splashback grout that has darkened
Around Aberlemno, as everywhere, regrouting is only as good as the preparation behind it.
