Your questions about regrouting in Noranside
Do you cover Noranside for regrouting?
Yes, Noranside is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job.
What guarantee comes with regrouting in Noranside?
All our work, in Noranside and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. We’re an ARBOMaster approved applicator, which is run for the Arbo sealant brand.
Is it messy?
No. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. Mr Mastic is fully insured, with over 20 years’ experience in sealant work.
Can you regrout if a few tiles are loose?
New grout can’t hold loose tiles in place. We check the tiles first and tell you if any are loose or hollow, so you can decide what to do.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Yes, every time. New sealant won’t bond properly to old, so the joint is cleaned back first.
Does someone need to be in?
For indoor joints, yes, someone needs to let us in. Once we’ve agreed the job, you don’t need to watch us work.
Regrouting for homes and businesses in Noranside
A bathroom with good tiles can still look worn if the grout has gone. Regrouting replaces the grout and keeps the tiles you have, so there’s no stripping out and no new tiles to choose. We are often asked to deal with good tiles let down by tired grout and grout that’s cracking and breaking up, across shower walls, wet rooms and bathroom wall tiles.
In and around a place like Noranside, homes range from older stone-built properties to newer houses. Where a building moves, cracked grout and split sealant are usually the first signs.
Big or small, it’s backed by our one-year guarantee in Noranside and across Angus.

What sealant work cannot fix
Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:
- Damaged tiles that need replacing
- Movement in a stud wall or floor
- A leaking shower valve or waste
If in doubt, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will say what we think before booking.

What happens on the day
There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Point us to the joints and we’ll get on with it. The job generally takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room, including the tidy-up. Outdoor work around Noranside depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so an outdoor job can move if the forecast changes. Work indoors isn’t affected.
- We start by checking the tiles for any that are loose or hollow.
- Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
- The joints are vacuumed and cleaned.
- We fill the joints with new grout, then clean the tiles.
- We reseal the internal corners and edges with silicone.
Before we arrive
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
- Tell us about any water getting in

Advice
How to look after the new joints
Aftercare is simple:
- Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
- Have loose tiles looked at early
- Wipe water off the walls when you are done
- Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
Keep an eye on the silicone in the corners. It’s the part that moves, so it’s usually the first thing to need attention, long before the grout does.
Leaving failed grout can mean tiles come loose. Once that happens, regrouting will not fix it so early action pays.
Bathrooms and kitchens in Noranside
Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.

Common problems we fix in Noranside
A bathroom that stays damp keeps the grout wet, and damp grout is where mould grows. Black marks that come back after cleaning are often in the grout itself.
Keep an eye out for these signs:
- Splashback grout that has darkened
- Grout in corners that has cracked
- Gaps where the shower grout has gone
- Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
If you live in an older home near Old Parish Church And Churchyard, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

- Mould in or behind the old joints
- How many areas need sealing
- The number and length of the joints
- When we can work, for business premises
What you pay reflects the work, not a rough estimate. That is why we ask a few questions first and give you a clear quote before work begins.

Why deal with it now?
Cleaning products may brighten grout for a time, but stains and mould that have soaked in tend to return. Replacing the grout and resealing the edges is a lasting fix. In an older home around Noranside, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster.
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, along with when we can work on site. Call for a quick quote and we’ll go through it with you.

DIY versus a professional finish
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
