New build mastic in Nisbet

New build mastic for homes and businesses in Nisbet

We work in new homes and on new-build sites across Nisbet. Whether it’s one en suite or a run of plots, the method is the same: remove, clean, prime where needed, then a neat new bead. If you have sealant applied over dusty or wet surfaces and gaps behind new kitchen upstands, we can help, on bathrooms & en suites, show homes and plot handovers alike.

For a place like Nisbet, the journey and access are planned in advance. Outdoor plot mastic needs dry weather, but indoor floor and skirting joints can be sealed whatever the forecast.

You get a 12-month guarantee, the same in Nisbet as everywhere else we work.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, such as a straightforward joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.

When something else is needed

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Baths and trays that move too much for sealant to cope with
  • Deciding who is responsible under a builder’s warranty
  • Leaking fittings rather than failed sealant

Not sure which it is? You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly.

What we seal

  • Kitchens
  • Windows & doors
  • Skirting & floors
  • Bathrooms & en suites
  • Show homes
  • Plot handovers

FAQs for Nisbet

Can you do new build mastic in Nisbet?

Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Nisbet is part of that. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing.

Is there a guarantee on new build mastic in Nisbet?

All our work, in Nisbet and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

When is the sealant fully cured?

Different products cure at different speeds, so please follow the time we give you.

Where are you based?

Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. We cover Nisbet and the rest of the Scottish Borders, along with the rest of our area.

Can new sealant go on top of the old bead?

No. The old sealant is cut out fully, the joint cleaned and primed where needed, and a new bead applied.

Do you work for hotels and businesses?

Yes. We can plan bigger jobs in stages.

Can you match the sealant colour to my new kitchen or bathroom?

The colour is chosen to suit the tiles, worktop or frame. Tell us what you’d like when you get a quote.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. We’re ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.

What happens on the day

You do not need to clear the whole room or building, only the area right around the joints. We protect the rest, and the job takes a few hours for most snagging lists, longer for a run of plots for a typical job. Somewhere like Nisbet may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.

  1. We look at why each joint failed, including any movement.
  2. We remove the failed sealant and clean the joints.
  3. We make sure the joints are dry and prime them if needed.
  4. New sealant goes in, with baths filled first so they’re at their heaviest.
  5. We check every joint and leave you with the cure times.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about any water getting in
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises

How to look after the new joints

Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Wait for the cure time before using a resealed shower
  • Use the extractor fan every time you shower
  • Avoid scourers and strong chemicals on sealant
  • Keep pictures and emails about snagging items

Clean the sealant with a mild detergent and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive pads and strong solvents as they wear the bead.

A seal that splits early is often a sign of movement. Getting it resealed properly, and any movement checked, stops it recurring.

Why deal with it now?

Running a new bead over the builder’s sealant might look tidy for a few weeks, but it can’t bond to what’s underneath. Taking it all out and starting again is the only way to get a lasting seal. In an older home around Nisbet, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.

Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.

What you get with us

  • Rated 4.9 stars on Google
  • We leave the area clean and tidy
  • Old sealant always removed completely
  • Anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas

What affects the cost of new build mastic

We don’t publish a price list, because no two jobs are the same. The quote depends on:

  • How many areas need sealing
  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • The number and length of the joints
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove

Combining jobs into one visit normally makes better use of the time than several visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.

What we need to know

To make quoting easier, please include:

  • Roughly how big the job is
  • Whether it’s a home or a business
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
  • What’s wrong with the joints now

Getting a quote is simple: let us know the job and the location. Photos by email help us understand the job.

Signs you need new build mastic in Nisbet

Once people move in, baths and trays take weight and bed down. A bath sealed empty drops slightly when filled, straining the joint and can tear.

Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:

  • Internal frame sealant that has split
  • Cracked caulk along new skirting
  • Sealant that never bonded to the surface
  • Untidy sealant flagged on a snagging list

In and around Nisbet, as anywhere, good new build mastic starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Before you book anyone

  • What insurance they hold
  • How long the guarantee is
  • What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
  • Whether all the old sealant comes out first
