Wilton New Build Mastic

Problem with your new-build sealant joints in Wilton? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant.

  • Gaps opening as the house dries out and settles
  • Beads laid onto grit and dust from the build
  • Shower seals failing in the first year or two

Why act early in Wilton

DIY kits do not solve the main problems with new-build sealant: grit, unprimed surfaces and old layers underneath. Proper removal and preparation are what make it last. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.

Combining jobs into one visit usually makes better use of the time than several visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. We’ll give you a clear price for the lot.

Why Wilton clients choose us

New build mastic in Wilton, done properly

We never seal over a failed new-build bead. New silicone won’t bond to old silicone, so it all comes out before we clean, dry and reseal. We’re often asked to deal with joints pulling apart as timber shrinks and shower seals failing in the first year or two, across windows & doors, bathrooms & en suites and plot handovers.

Work in a place like Wilton is planned ahead, journey included. Inside work goes ahead in any weather; outside mastic needs a dry day.

You are covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything is not right with it, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

What we do, step by step

Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. For most jobs that takes a few hours in a single home, and the area is left clean. Outdoor work around Wilton depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.

  1. We look at why each joint failed, including any movement.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the joints cleaned.
  3. We make sure the joints are dry and prime them if needed.
  4. New sealant goes in, with baths filled first so they’re at their heaviest.
  5. We check every joint and leave you with the cure times.

Questions from Wilton

Do you cover Wilton for new build mastic?

Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Wilton is part of that. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing, and we will give you a clear price.

Do you cover smaller places like Wilton?

Yes. Wilton is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across all of Scotland. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Can I do it myself?

Sometimes. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. We can always put it right if it fails.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. We’re ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.

Can landlords and businesses book you?

Yes, we do. We work in homes, commercial premises and hotels.

Do you use white or clear sealant?

We use white, clear or a colour to suit the finishes. Tell us what you’d like when you get a quote.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. We can plan bigger jobs in stages.

My new home is still under warranty. Should I contact you?

Start with the builder if you are in the snagging or warranty period. Once that’s done, or if they won’t put it right, we’ll cut it out and reseal it.

Aftercare tips

Good habits help new joints last longer. A few tips:

  • Do not seal over failed sealant yourself
  • Raise failed sealant with the developer while you are covered
  • Wipe joints with warm soapy water
  • Record problems with dated pictures

Do not stand on the bath edge or the lip of the tray. Report any movement in a bath or tray.

If a shower tray or bath seal splits in the first year, look for movement. Getting it resealed properly, and any movement checked, stops it recurring.

When to call us in Wilton

Sealant applied onto damp surfaces does not bond well. On a busy site, joints aren’t always given time to dry before the sealant goes on.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Second-fix sealing on new plots
  • Leaking shower tray seals in a new home
  • Sealant that never bonded to the surface
  • Joints pulling apart as timber shrinks

Around Wilton, as everywhere, new build mastic is only as good as the preparation behind it.

10 questions to ask before you book

What affects the cost of new build mastic

We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:

  • Access and height
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • When we can work, for business premises
  • The old material and how stubborn it is

What you pay reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we ask about the job first and give you a clear quote before any work starts.

What we need to know

You do not need to know the technical terms. It helps if you can tell us:

  • Photos by email, if that’s easy
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work

There’s no standard price list. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To arrange one, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

When it isn’t the sealant

We’d rather tell you now than do work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Your warranty claim itself, which is between you and the builder
  • Settlement cracks that need a surveyor
  • A tray or bath that is not properly supported, until it’s fixed

If in doubt, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think.
