New build mastic for homes and businesses in Logierait

Failed shower seals, gaps along the skirting and messy beads are common items on a new-home snagging list. While the builder’s snagging or warranty period runs, report it to them first, and if it is not put right, get in touch with us. If you’re dealing with messy sealant that spoils new finishes and gaps behind new kitchen upstands, we can help.

Many newer homes in Scotland are timber-framed and settle as they dry out, so skirting and floor joints can open up. Older stone-built homes, meanwhile, often have timber floors that move with the seasons.

We stand behind the work with a 12-month guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once the job is done.

Leave it or put it right?

If you are still in the builder’s snagging or warranty period, ask them to put it right first. If it’s slow, or the same joint keeps failing, a proper reseal from a specialist is the next step. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.

The cost reflects the work involved, not guesswork. That’s why we ask a few questions first and give you a clear price before any work starts.

Logierait questions

Will you come out to Logierait?

Yes, Logierait is covered. We work across all of Scotland, from towns to the smallest places. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

Do you cover Logierait for new build mastic?

Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Logierait is part of that. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing.

Do you work for letting agents?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties at once, and between tenancies is a good time for the work.

Do you take out the old sealant first?

Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned before resealing.

What information do you need?

The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. Photos by email help too.

Do you guarantee your work?

Yes. Each job is guaranteed for twelve months, wherever you are.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. We are fully insured for every job we do.

Can you reseal over the builder’s sealant?

No. The old sealant is cut out fully, then clean and prime the joint, before resealing.

Keeping the joints in good condition

A little care helps the new joints last. We recommend:

  • Report sealant problems to your builder during the snagging period
  • Act quickly if a seal starts to leak
  • Do not seal over failed sealant yourself
  • Avoid scourers and strong chemicals on sealant

Clean the sealant with a mild detergent and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive pads and strong solvents, which can damage the surface.

Lifting sealant traps moisture and mould behind it. Dealing with it before it goes black keeps the job straightforward.

Can I do it myself?

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Logierait

Letting agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements and we’ll quote.

We also work for property managers and facilities teams in Logierait and across Perth and Kinross. Several sites can go on one quote, and we’re fully insured for the work.

Do you need new build mastic in Logierait?

Baths and trays settle under load once the home is lived in. If a bath wasn’t filled when it was sealed, the bead is stretched the first time it’s used and can tear.

It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:

  • Beads laid onto grit and dust from the build
  • Frame joints opening as the plaster dries
  • Gaps between new skirting and floors
  • Worktop and upstand sealant coming away

In and around Logierait, as anywhere, good new build mastic starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether the sealant suits the joint
  • How long to leave it before use
  • Whether all the old sealant comes out first
  • Whether you can choose the colour

What happens on the day

On the day, we start by going over the job with you. Surfaces next to the work are protected before any work begins. Most jobs take a few hours for most snagging lists, longer for a run of plots. In smaller Scottish places, parking is usually less of an issue than access and distance. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work.

  1. We look at why each joint failed, including any movement.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the joints cleaned.
  3. We make sure the joints are dry and prime them if needed.
  4. New sealant goes in, with baths filled first so they’re at their heaviest.
  5. The finished joints are checked and the cure times given.

Before we arrive

  • Move anything stored near the joints
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area
  • Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
