External mastic for homes and businesses in Logierait
On houses, flats and commercial buildings across Logierait, we reseal joints in brickwork, render, cladding and façade panels. Every joint gets the same careful preparation: clean, sound faces and a controlled depth. If you have joints with sealant missing in places and sealant pulling away from one side of the joint, we can help, on concrete & block, copings & trims and façade panels alike.
Older stone buildings need a sealant that suits the stone, not an acetoxy product that can mark or attack it. On newer homes, the movement joints and roofline trims are what need watching.
You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything isn’t right with it, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Keeping the joints in good condition
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Fix overflowing gutters above sealed joints
- Look over the joints every year, ideally after winter
- Act on the first splits you see
- Avoid pressure-washing directly into sealant joints
Don’t paint over the new sealant unless we’ve said the product is paintable. Many exterior sealants are not designed to be painted, and paint can crack as the joint moves.
If you can see gaps, plants or bare sections in a joint, have it checked. Earlier resealing means a smaller job and a better result.

What else we do in Logierait
Can I do it myself?
If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We cut it out and start again.
What sealant work can’t fix
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what new sealant will not do:
- Cracked brickwork or render that needs a builder or plasterer
- Damp that is not coming from the joint
- Loose or hollow render, which needs re-rendering
If you’re not sure, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Yes, Logierait is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job.
Why is there a gap in my brick wall?
A movement joint is a planned break in the wall that absorbs expansion and shrinkage. It’s sealed with a flexible sealant, not mortar.
Can you seal joints between two different materials?
Yes. Different materials move at different rates, so a flexible sealant is needed where they meet. The sealant is matched to both sides.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. We’re ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.
How long before the joint can be used?
Cure times vary by product and the conditions. We tell you how long to leave it before we go.
What colours does the sealant come in?
We aim for a joint that suits the wall rather than one that jumps out. Colour is agreed with you before we begin.
Can a movement joint be filled with mortar?
No. Mortar locks the joint solid, so the wall cracks somewhere else instead. It needs a flexible sealant over backing rod.
For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we’ll quote.
How the job changes by surface
Cladding and façade panels
Where a cladding system has its own specified sealant, we follow it or an approved alternative. Tell us what the building has when you get in touch.
Render joints
Rendered walls have joints at beads, openings and changes of material. We reseal them with a flexible exterior sealant that suits the render colour.
The process
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we’ll get on with it. The work itself takes a few hours to a few days, depending on the length of joint and the access. Somewhere like Logierait may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.
- We start by checking each joint, agreeing the ones to redo and how we will reach them.
- We cut out the failed sealant and rake out any dirt or growth.
- Both sides are cleaned back to sound material and primed if needed.
- Closed-cell backing rod is fitted to set the depth and stop three-sided bonding.
- A flexible exterior sealant is applied and tooled in a colour to suit the wall.
Before we arrive
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
How to get a quote
Every job is quoted individually, so start by telling us what you need. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details and send pictures if you have them.
Advice
Leave it or put it right?
A low-modulus sealant is chosen because it moves without pulling hard at the edges. That protects surfaces like brick, render and concrete. Too stiff a sealant can pull at the edges and break them. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.
Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.

Outside joints around Logierait
Harled (roughcast) walls are common in Scotland, and joints where harling meets other materials need a sealant that can grip and flex. Under the Repairing Standard, private landlords in Scotland have to keep homes wind and watertight, and failed outside joints work against that.
Letting a property close to Pitlochry station? Then outside joints that have cracked can let damp into a rental, so check them between lets. For an older house near a landmark such as Logierait Parish Church, older walls, gutters and the joints where extensions meet them need a flexible sealant.
