Gutter sealing for homes and businesses in Puckaster
Garage door frames let rain in when the sealant around them fails. The frame joint is cut out and resealed with an exterior sealant. We work on soffit joints, roofline trims and garage door frames, and the jobs we see most are cracked sealant along roofline trims and earlier gutter repairs that have peeled off.
Older homes in small places like Puckaster may be stone, brick or timber-framed, often with later extensions. Where one material meets another is where water normally gets in, and they need the right sealant at the right depth.

The process
A visit follows a simple pattern: we check the joints, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, carry out the job and clear up. Most jobs take a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access. Somewhere like Puckaster needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- First, we find the drip and check the gutter isn’t cracked or sagging.
- We clean out the joint and take out the old sealant.
- The area is dried so the sealant can bond.
- Gutter or exterior sealant is applied and finished.
- We look along the gutter and clear debris around the joints.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work

Keeping the joints in good condition
No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:
- Look at the gutters while it’s raining
- Don’t leave a sagging gutter
- Clear leaves and moss from the gutters
- Glance at the soffit joints now and then
Clear the gutters once or twice a year, so water drains away past the joints. Standing water strains every seal.
A leaking stop end is best sealed before the wet months. Water down the wall all winter can cause damp.
Why it’s worth doing now in Puckaster
A new garage door isn’t needed for a leaking frame. Sealing the frame normally stops it, if the frame itself is sound. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Puckaster, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs, along with when we can work on site. Call for a quick quote and we’ll explain what it covers.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy, and it’s quick to put right between tenancies. Several properties can go on one quote.
We work for landlords and letting agents as well as householders. Sealant work between tenants is a simple way to keep a property in good order.
FAQs for Puckaster
Does the coastal weather in Puckaster affect outside sealant?
Coastal weather is harder on outside sealant: there’s more wind-driven rain and, closer to the shore, salt in the air. Choosing the right sealant for the frame and wall, laid at the right depth, helps it last.
Will you come out to Puckaster?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Which products do you use?
Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, chosen to suit the joint. We explain the product when we quote.
What should I tell you?
Only a few details: where it is, what you’ve noticed and how we reach it. Then phone 0345 464 0079 or email us.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes. We’ve worked for hotels, offices and other businesses, and we’re fully insured.
Will you clear out my gutters?
We clear what’s around the joints we work on. A full clean of the gutters isn’t part of it.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.
Do I need to be at home?
Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.
What gutter sealing looks like in Puckaster
Puckaster is close to the coast, and homes near the sea take more wind-driven rain, with salt in the air closer to the shore. That is hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, especially on the side facing the sea. The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, yet outdoor joints still have to be sealed dry, so jobs are booked with the weather in mind.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Niton Primary School, movement joints, cladding joints and gutters on larger buildings need the same care as a house’s.

DIY versus a professional finish
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.
What we’re called out for in Puckaster
A sealant applied to a damp or dirty joint won’t bond. Some quick repairs peel off within a season or two.
Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:
- Fascia boards with gaps between them
- Wet patches on the wall under a gutter joint
- Old sealant on roofline trims that has split
- Internal damp traced to a gutter joint
In the older streets around Church of St. John the Baptist, the joints between older walls, newer extensions and the roofline need a sealant that can move.
Before you book anyone

- How the colour is chosen
- How the joint is cleaned and prepared
- What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
