About our gutter sealing in Perth
Gaps along uPVC fascias and soffits look untidy and can let in water and draughts. We seal them in a colour to suit where one is available. If you are dealing with old sealant on roofline trims that has split and internal damp traced to a gutter joint, we can put it right, on garage door frames, uPVC fascias and gutter end caps alike.
Scottish towns like Perth mix older stone buildings with newer estates of brick, render and uPVC trims. Older buildings tend to leak at gutter joints, newer ones at dried-out movement joints.
All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months.

Walls and rooflines in Perth
Under the Repairing Standard, private landlords in Scotland have to keep homes wind and watertight, and sound outside sealant is part of that. Plenty of Scottish homes have harled walls, and joints where harling meets other materials need a sealant that can grip and flex.
If you let a flat or house near Perth station, a dripping gutter joint or loose fascia trim is easy to miss until damp shows inside.

Aftercare tips
Looking after new joints is easy:
- Keep ladders off the guttering
- Keep the gutters clear of debris
- Have sagging gutters refixed early
- Look along the fascias for open joints
If a gutter starts to sag, get the brackets looked at. Movement will pull the joints open again.
A leaking garage frame lets water reach stored items. A reseal sorts it.

How we quote for gutter sealing
The quote reflects the job in front of us. We look at:
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- The size of the job
- Working hours on commercial sites
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part.

What we are called out for in Perth
Sealant on fascias and trims weathers like any outdoor joint. It goes hard, cracks and pulls away after some years.
Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:
- Damp on an inside wall under a dripping gutter
- Quick sealant fixes on gutters that didn’t last
- Dripping gutter ends
- Gaps along fascia and soffit joints
Managing a site like Perth High School? Then movement joints, cladding joints and gutters on larger buildings need the same care as a house’s.
What to look for in a quote
- Whether VAT is included
- Which sealant they’ll use, and why
- Whether they’re fully insured
- What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant

What happens on the day
Good joint work is mostly preparation, and we do not rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. In total, it usually takes anything from an hour or two to a few hours. In a Scottish town like Perth, parking is normally straightforward, though older centres can be tighter. For flats, mention the shared stair or door entry system.
- We look at the gutters, fascias and trims and agree the joints to seal.
- We clean out each joint.
- The joints are dried.
- We apply exterior or gutter sealant and finish it neatly.
- The joints are checked once sealed.
How to prepare

- Move anything stored near the joints
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work

DIY versus a professional finish
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
