Floor & skirting joints in Forest Side, Isle of Wight
Floor joint sealing across Forest Side and nearby, with every bit of old sealant taken out first and a 12-month guarantee.
- Threshold joints that have opened or worn
- Open gaps along the bottom of skirting boards
- Open joints that fill with dirt
Aftercare tips
Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:
- Ask before painting over a sealed joint
- Lift furniture rather than dragging it across joints
- Sweep along the edges of the floor
- Check skirting joints after the heating season
Keep heavy traffic off resealed concrete joints for the cure time we give you. Cone off the area if needed.
Cracks along tile grout lines come back unless the movement is dealt with. Adding a movement joint early can stop cracks spreading to the tiles.
Floor joint sealing in Forest Side
Floors move, and the joint where they meet a wall, skirting, threshold or another floor has to move with them. Skirting-to-floor gaps, tiled floor joints and concrete joints are all sealed. Typical jobs include skirting that has pulled away from the floor and tiled floors with no room to move, on wet room & bathroom floors, thresholds and skirting boards.
Around Forest Side, older homes often have timber floors that move through the year, so skirting and threshold joints need a flexible sealant rather than a rigid filler.
All our work comes with our 12-month guarantee, wherever you are in the Isle of Wight.

New homes and floors in Forest Side
Floors around the Isle of Wight run from suspended timber in older homes to concrete in newer houses and units, and they don’t all move the same way. That is why the skirting and threshold joints need a flexible seal.
For buildings such as St. Mary's Church, floor and skirting joints in halls and kitchens wear like any others. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Carisbrooke College, floor joints in corridors, halls and entrances take heavy wear and need resealing before the edges break up.

How the visit works
Every visit runs the same way: we look at the joints together, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, do the work and tidy away. Most jobs take a few hours, depending on the length of joint. Somewhere as small as Forest Side, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- We look at the gap and the floor type and agree the right sealant.
- Whatever is in the joint now, whether caulk, grout or sealant, comes out.
- The joint is cleaned, vacuumed and backed where depth needs controlling.
- We apply a flexible sealant, or a floor-joint product on concrete, in a suitable colour.
- Finally we tool it smooth and explain when the floor can be used and cleaned.
Getting ready for the visit
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
- Clear the area around the work
- Mention any tricky access

Forest Side questions
Is Forest Side in your area for floor joint sealing?
Yes, Forest Side is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job.
Will you come out to Forest Side?
Yes, Forest Side is covered. We work across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
When can I walk on the floor?
Follow the cure time we give you. Feet are normally fine first, then mopping, then heavy wheels in most cases.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We are fully insured.
How long does floor joint sealing take?
Most jobs take a few hours for most rooms, longer for large commercial floors. We’ll confirm how long when we quote.
Where is Mr Mastic based?
We are a Crawley-based firm. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.
Are you an approved applicator?
Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we’re part of it.
Do you seal warehouse floor joints?
Yes. Old filler is cleaned out and the joint resealed with a floor-joint product. Let us know about the traffic and we will quote.
Should I try it myself first?
If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
Landlord and commercial work in Forest Side
In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so the work can be planned room by room. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we will quote.
What the job involves on each surface
Concrete floor joints
Hard wheels break down the edges of open joints. Sealing them supports the edges and keeps dirt out.
Wet room and bathroom floors
Bathroom floors meet baths, trays, panels and skirting. We seal them with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
What happens if it’s left?
Leaving skirting gaps until the next decorating job lets dirt and draughts in. It’s a quick job to seal them now for most homes. Older cottages and farmhouses around Forest Side can have timber floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.
Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all play a part.
