Bathroom Resealing in Reculver
Problem with your baths, showers and worktops in Reculver? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant, with a one-year guarantee.
- Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
- Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
- Black mould in the silicone that will not clean off
About our bathroom resealing in Reculver
A shower joint gets soaked every day. Trays, enclosures, screen profiles and wet room floors all need a flexible, waterproof seal. Each gets a bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone, finished smooth so water drains away rather than collecting. Typical jobs include mouldy sealant that has gone black and leaks into the floor or ceiling below, across shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and baths.
Being in a small place like Reculver makes no difference to the job itself: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. Once we’re there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right with it, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us.

Can I do it myself?
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

What the job involves on each surface
Baths
The long joint down the side of a bath is where most leaks start, particularly where there’s a shower over the bath. We finish it with a single, even bead of anti-fungal silicone.
Wet rooms
Wet room floors move slightly as they’re used, so the internal corners need silicone rather than grout. Cracked grout in a corner can be cut out and replaced with silicone.
What happens on the day
Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you. The visit itself usually takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen, depending on the amount of work. In a small place like Reculver, access is usually the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
- We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, normally around 24 hours.
Getting ready for the visit
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
- Mention any tricky access
- Let us know about parking restrictions

Reculver homes and their sealant
Reculver is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
If you look after a building such as Reculver Church of England Primary School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. If you live in an older home near St Mary's Church, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. If you let a flat or house near Herne Bay station, a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for.
Reculver is about 3 miles east of Herne Bay, in Kent. Across the CT6 area, we can carry out bathroom resealing at your property. Across Kent, we cover 922 places, and Reculver is one of them. We also work in Chelmsford, about 39 miles from Reculver.
Every address in CT6 is covered for bathroom resealing, from the main roads to the quietest streets. If you need bathroom resealing at a property on Reculver Lane and Cherry Blossom Drive or a nearby road, we can help. We also cover Bishopstone (1 mile west), Hillborough (1 mile south-west), Hawthorn (2 miles south-west), Beltinge (2 miles west) and Highstead (2 miles south-west). Further out, we also cover Canterbury (8 miles south-west), Margate (8 miles east), Ramsgate (10 miles east), Broadstairs (10 miles east), Whitstable (7 miles west) and Deal (14 miles south-east).

When it is not the sealant
To be straight with you, there are a few things sealant will not fix:
- A tray or bath that’s cracked through
- Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
- A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
If you’re not sure, just ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Your questions about bathroom resealing in Reculver
Do you cover smaller places like Reculver?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Can you do bathroom resealing in Reculver?
Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Reculver is part of that. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear quote.
Where do you work from?
We work from Crawley. We cover Reculver and the rest of Kent, along with the rest of our area.
Can landlords and businesses book you?
Yes, often. We can quote for several properties at once, and between tenancies is a good time for the work.
How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?
Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Leave it around 24 hours before it gets wet, or follow the cure time we give you.
Are you insured?
Yes. We are fully insured, and we can confirm the details when we quote.
What does bathroom resealing cost?
It depends on the job, so we quote each one individually. For a quick quote, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us with a short description of the job.
How long does a bath or shower reseal take?
That depends on the number of joints and the state of the old sealant. Allow a couple of hours for a typical bath or shower.
Landlord and commercial work in Reculver
Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy. Several properties can go on one quote.
In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so the work can be planned room by room. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.
Why deal with it now?
A failed joint gets more costly to put right the longer it’s left. Water that gets behind a bath soaks into the floor, the panel and sometimes the ceiling below, turning a small job into a building repair. Around Reculver, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.

How we quote for bathroom resealing
Every job gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:
- The size of the job
- Working hours on commercial sites
- Which sealant suits the joint
- Mould in or behind the old joints
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, along with when we can work on site. Call for a quick quote and we’ll go through it with you.
Asking for a quote
You do not need to know the technical terms. Just tell us:
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- The problem you’ve noticed
- Whether it has been sealed before
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
It all starts with a short chat. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is, and we’ll talk you through what we’d do. When it suits you, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.
