Hillborough Bathroom Resealing
Our applicators work in Hillborough on bath, shower, basin, wet room, worktop and sink resealing. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly and a 12-month guarantee.
- Black spots spreading through the bead
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
- Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Hillborough
Across Hillborough, the joints we reseal are the ones that fail in any home: the long edge of the bath, the base of the shower tray, the back of the basin and the line along the worktop. Every joint is cut out, cleaned and left dry before it’s resealed. We are often asked to deal with smears of silicone across the tiles and a reseal done over the top of the old bead, across kitchen worktops & upstands, baths and wet rooms.
Around Hillborough, you’ll mostly find houses and bungalows, some older and some much newer. Bathrooms and kitchens here get the same daily wear as anywhere, and the sealant and grout show it first.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are not left on your own once the job is done.

Do you need bathroom resealing in Hillborough?
Plenty of failed sealant has been laid over the top of older sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old silicone, so it peels, leaks and hides mould behind it.
Look out for any of the following:
- Black mould in the silicone that will not clean off
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
- Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
- A reseal done over the top of the old bead
Schools such as Reculver Church of England Primary School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.
What your quote should include
- Whether the sealant suits the joint
- Whether all the old sealant comes out first
- Who does the work, and how experienced they are
- What the cure time is
Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so we plan the work room by room around your bookings where we can. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.
We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.
When it is not the sealant
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what sealant cannot fix:
- A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported
- Failed grout lines across the wall
- Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly.
Joints and surfaces we work on
- Baths
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Sinks & splashbacks
- Basins & vanity units
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
- Wet rooms
Looking after it afterwards
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
- Wipe the sealant dry after showering
- Dry worktop joints after washing up
- Never pick at the silicone with a blade
Mould needs damp, so keep the room aired. Use the fan, or open a window, while you bathe and for a while afterwards, so the silicone gets a chance to dry.
A split bead lets water through every time the bath or shower is used. Left alone, it soaks into the floor, the wall behind the tiles or the ceiling below. Resealing early stops it.
Bathroom resealing in Hillborough: local notes
Hillborough is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
In the older streets around Church of St Mary the Virgin, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. If you let a flat or house near Herne Bay station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.

How the visit works
We bring everything the job needs with us, so you don’t need to buy or prepare anything. Once we’ve agreed what’s being done, the area is protected and the work begins. Most jobs take a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. A visit to Hillborough is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. Outdoor jobs depend on a dry day, since sealant needs a dry surface.
- We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead.
- Next, the joint is cleaned and any mould is treated.
- We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
- New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
- We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, usually after around 24 hours.
Before we arrive
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
- Tell us if parking is tricky

Why it’s worth doing now in Hillborough
Bleach and mould sprays may lighten black marks for a while, but mould that has grown into the sealant tends to return. The lasting answer is to remove the bead and start again. Around Hillborough, water from a failed joint in an older home can soak into timber and plaster, and that is a much bigger job than renewing the sealant.
Leaving a failed joint usually makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you are unsure, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email for an honest opinion and a quote.
