How the job changes by surface
Shower trays & enclosures
There are generally two jobs in a shower: the tray-to-wall joint and the enclosure joints. Both take water every day, so each is cut out and renewed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
Baths
A bath shifts slightly every time it’s filled, so it’s filled with water before the bead goes on. That way the joint is laid with the bath at its heaviest and isn’t stretched when it’s used.
Bathroom resealing in Mundole
Mr Mastic has more than 20 years’ experience of sealant work, and our applicators reseal bathrooms and kitchens across Mundole. We’re fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and the work comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re often asked to deal with cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone and two layers of silicone, both failing, on sinks & splashbacks, baths and kitchen worktops & upstands.
Being further from a city does not change the work: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. We just plan the journey and access beforehand.
We guarantee the work for a year. If something is not right with it in that time, tell us and we will put it right.

Aftercare tips
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Wipe the sealant dry after showering
- Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
- Move toiletries away from the joint
- Wait for the cure time we give you
Do not stand bottles along the bead, as they hold water against it. Squeegeeing the walls and tray after use keeps water from sitting on the joint.
A split bead lets water through every time the bath or shower is used. Over time that water reaches floors, walls and ceilings. Resealing early stops it.
How it works
Every visit runs the same way: we look at the joints together, protect the area around them, do the work and tidy away. It normally takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included. For a place like Mundole, longer drives are planned in advance. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.
- We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, normally around 24 hours.
Getting ready for the visit
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive

Common questions in Mundole
Do you work for landlords with property near Forres station?
Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as homeowners, and several properties can go on one quote. Just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear quote.
Is Mundole in your area for bathroom resealing?
Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Mundole is part of that. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing.
Where do you work from?
Our base is Crawley. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.
Which products do you use?
We choose the sealant for the joint, not the other way round. Movement, water and weather all affect the choice, and we will explain our choice.
Is white the only colour available?
White, clear and a range of colours are available. Where the joint is on show, we match it to the surface.
My sealant has gone black. Can you sort it?
Yes, we can. We strip the bead, treat the joint and lay new anti-fungal silicone.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Yes, every time. New sealant will not bond properly to old, so the joint is cleaned back first.
Is it worth trying it myself?
That depends on the joint. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional.
How we quote for bathroom resealing
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:
- Which sealant suits the joint
- The size of the job
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- Any mould that needs treating
The cost depends on the amount of work, how hard the old material is to remove and access to the work. We give a clear quote before any work starts, so you know where you stand.
Asking for a quote
Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- The rough size of the job
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
For a quote, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the location and a short description of the problem. You’ll have a clear quote before any work starts.
What we are called out for in Mundole
Sealant laid on a damp, dusty or greasy joint never bonds properly. Soap residue, oils and leftover silicone film all get in the way, and a joint that looked fine soon begins to come away.
Look out for these signs:
- Smears of silicone across the tiles
- Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
- Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
- Water getting behind the kitchen upstand
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Forres Academy, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.
Comparing quotes
- How the surfaces are prepared before sealing
- What product goes in the joint
- What the cure time is
- Whether they seal over old material or remove it
When something else is needed
A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:
- Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
- Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
- Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
If you are not sure, just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Mundole
Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance.
Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, the work is the same standard: old sealant fully removed, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee.
Bathroom resealing in Mundole: local notes
Mundole is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.
Rented homes near Forres station change hands often, and a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for.
