Signs you need bathroom resealing in Fogwatt

Older sealant shrinks and hardens. Along worktops it tends to pull back from the wall, leaving a thin gap where water and food collect. Hot pans and harsh cleaners do not help.

Any of these means the joints need attention:

  • Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
  • Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
  • Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
  • New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting

Around Fogwatt, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Fogwatt

Mr Mastic has more than 20 years’ experience of sealant work, and our applicators reseal bathrooms and kitchens across Fogwatt. We’re ARBOMaster approved and fully insured, and every job carries our one-year guarantee. If you have water escaping at the shower enclosure and a reseal done over the top of the old bead, we can put it right.

Being further from a city doesn’t change the work: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. The journey and access are simply planned in advance.

Our work is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you are.

Aftercare tips

So the new joints stay in good condition:

  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
  • Dry worktop joints after washing up
  • Move toiletries away from the joint
  • Never pick at the silicone with a blade

Do not stand bottles along the bead, because they trap water against the silicone. Squeegeeing the walls and tray after use helps the joint dry.

A few black dots in the silicone soon become a black line. Once it’s deep in the silicone, cleaning normally will not remove it. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.

Fogwatt questions

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Elgin station?

Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as householders, and several properties can be quoted together. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details for a clear quote.

Can you do bathroom resealing in Fogwatt?

Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Fogwatt is part of that. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job.

What information do you need?

Only a few details: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. Then email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

How much does bathroom resealing cost in Fogwatt?

There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: its size, the old material, access and the product needed. You will get a clear quote before work begins.

Should I try DIY first?

That depends on the joint. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional.

Do you work for hotels and businesses?

Yes. Commercial and hotel work is a large part of what we do. We can talk about working times when we quote.

What colours of sealant can you use?

White and clear are the most common choices, and other colours are available to suit tiles, trays and worktops. Let us know your preference when you ask for a quote.

Do I need to be at home?

If the work is inside, we need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Laminate worktops swell if water gets into the core. A continuous bead along the back keeps water out.

Wet rooms

Not every wet room leak is a sealant problem. We check the joints and say so if the fault looks to be elsewhere.

What bathroom resealing looks like in Fogwatt

In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out.

Rented homes near Elgin station change hands often, and mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.

For landlords and businesses

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.

Why act early in Fogwatt

Tired sealant isn’t a reason to replace a bath or shower. A new bead often brings the whole room back, as long as the fittings themselves are sound. If something else is wrong, we’ll tell you. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.

What you pay reflects the work, not a rough estimate. That is why we ask a few questions first and agree the price before starting.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.

How the visit works

You do not need to clear the whole room or building before we come, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the job takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers for a typical job. Around Fogwatt, distance and access matter more than parking. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work, and the visit is planned around that.

  1. Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
  2. We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
  3. We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
