Bathroom & kitchen resealing in Bridgefoot, Dundee

Our applicators work in Bridgefoot on bath, shower, basin, wet room, worktop and sink resealing. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly.

  • Leaking joints on a shower screen
  • Black mould in the silicone that will not clean off
  • A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal

Bathroom resealing in Bridgefoot

DIY versus a professional finish

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

Bathroom resealing in Bridgefoot

We fill the bath before sealing it. A full bath sits slightly lower than an empty one, so the new joint is not pulled apart the first time it’s used. It’s a small step that rushed reseals tend to skip. If you’re dealing with black spots spreading through the bead and water getting behind the bath panel, we can help.

In and around a place like Bridgefoot, homes range from older stone-built properties to newer houses. Where a building moves, cracked grout and split sealant are normally the first signs.

Big or small, you get the same 12-month guarantee.

How to look after the new joints

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
  • Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
  • Give the silicone its full cure time
  • Wipe the sealant dry after showering

Check the sealant now and then. Small splits and lifting ends are easy to catch early, and if anything looks wrong, just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Do not wait for a refit to deal with failed sealant. Sealant is a maintenance item, like the paint on a window frame, and renewing it as soon as it fails protects everything around it.

What happens if it’s left?

Most of the work in a good reseal happens before any silicone goes on: cutting out every trace of the old bead, cleaning, treating mould and letting the joint dry. Without that preparation, the new bead won’t last. When the nearest tradesperson is a drive away, it’s tempting to leave a small leak, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.

We don’t show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. Call for a quick quote and we will talk you through it.

How do I get a quote for bathroom resealing in Bridgefoot?

There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. You will get a clear quote before we start.

How long before the new sealant can get wet?

Usually after around 24 hours. We will tell you the cure time for the product we used.

Do the sealants smell?

Some sealants have a smell while they cure. Ventilation helps.

Will you leave a mess?

No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.

Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?

Yes, we replace the mouldy bead. Sprays can fade the marks, but cutting it out and resealing is what lasts. Airing the room well helps stop it returning.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in Bridgefoot

The price is agreed before any work begins. It takes into account:

  • Which sealant suits the joint
  • Whether the work is at height
  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove

Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, along with when we can work on site. Ask us for a quote and we will go through it with you.

Helping us quote

There’s no need for technical detail. Just tell us:

  • Where the property is
  • The type of property
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work

For a quote, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. You’ll have a clear quote before we start.

What we’re called out for in Bridgefoot

No sealant lasts indefinitely. Daily water, heat and cleaning products slowly wear it down, and how long it lasts comes down to use, cleaning and ventilation.

Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:

  • A reseal done over the top of the old bead
  • Black mould in the silicone that will not clean off
  • Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
  • Failed sealant on the screen profile

Schools such as Baldragon Academy are buildings too, and its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

What to look for in a quote

  • How the joint is cleaned and prepared
  • Whether the sealant suits the joint
  • How the colour is chosen
  • How much experience the applicator has

When something else is needed

To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:

  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
  • A tray or bath that’s cracked through
  • A leaking waste, trap or valve

Not sure which it is? You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly.

What we seal

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Wet rooms

Bathroom resealing around Bridgefoot

In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.

How it works

Good joint work is mostly preparation, so that’s where we spend the time. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. All told, the work takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. Outdoor work around Bridgefoot depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors isn’t affected.

  1. Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
  2. We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.
