Ewhurst Window Mastic
Mastic around window and door frames, sills and patio doors for homes and businesses in Ewhurst and across Surrey. Fully insured, ARBOMaster approved and guaranteed for a year.
- Leaking joints at the ends of sills
- Untidy mastic left by window fitters
- Draughty joints inside around the window
The process
You do not need to clear the whole room or building, just the space around the work. Everything nearby is protected, and the job takes most of a day for a typical house, less for a few frames in most cases. Somewhere like Ewhurst needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- Each frame is looked over and we agree which ones need resealing.
- The old mastic is cut out and scraped back to clean surfaces.
- Deep gaps get closed-cell backing rod to set the depth.
- A flexible exterior sealant is applied in a colour to suit the frame.
- Every joint is tooled smooth and checked before we leave.
Before we arrive
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work

Surface by surface
uPVC windows
We clean the frame edge carefully so the plastic isn’t marked, then the sealant goes in between frame and wall.
Composite doors
An exposed front door gets wind-driven rain, and the top and bottom corners tend to fail first. We pay most attention there.
Why act early in Ewhurst
If you are painting or rendering, reseal at the same time. Fresh joints finish the job neatly, and it’s easier while the walls are being worked on anyway. In a small place like Ewhurst, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
We don’t show prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a quick quote, please call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will talk you through it.

Windows and doors in Ewhurst
London and the South East are among the drier parts of the UK, though outdoor sealant still has to go onto a dry joint, so the forecast decides the day.
For landlords with property near Ockley station, sound mastic around windows and doors keeps out the draughts and damp that tenants notice first. Schools such as Ewhurst CofE Aided Infant School are buildings too, and larger buildings have plenty of frames, and the mastic around each one ages.

What we’re called out for in Ewhurst
Every frame moves through the day. A plastic or aluminium frame lengthens in sunshine and shortens as it cools, while the masonry beside it stays put. A sealant that can’t keep up eventually tears.
Keep an eye out for these signs:
- A bead that doesn’t match the frame
- Draughty joints inside around the window
- Cracked or shrunken mastic around the frame
- Draughts coming in around windows and doors
Homes close to Church of St Peter and St Paul include some older properties, and the windows may be timber, sash or later replacements, and each needs the right sealant against the wall.

For landlords and businesses
Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report. Several properties can go on one quote.
Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.
What sealant work cannot fix
We’d rather tell you now than do work that will not last, so these are the limits:
- Damp problems in the wall away from the window
- A sash or casement that will not close properly
- Condensation trapped between the panes
Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll tell you honestly.

Your questions about window mastic in Ewhurst
Is Ewhurst in your area for window mastic?
Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Ewhurst is part of that. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with a few details of the job.
I let a flat near Ockley station. Can you help?
Yes, we work for letting agents and landlords. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or email us with the address and a few details, and we will give you a fixed price before any work starts.
Will new mastic stop draughts?
Yes, if the air is getting in around the frame. If it’s coming through the window seals, we’ll tell you.
Does someone need to be in?
Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We’re fully insured, and we’ve been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.
What sealant do you use?
Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, picked for each joint. We explain the product when we quote.
Do you seal inside as well as outside?
Yes. The outside joint keeps the weather out, and the inside joint stops draughts and finishes the reveal. We do one or both.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we’re part of it.
How to look after the new joints
How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:
- Make sure the drainage slots are not blocked
- Keep paint off silicone joints
- Repaint timber before it’s bare
- Look round the frames every year or so
Wipe the frames with soapy water when you clean the windows, and avoid solvent cleaners on the sealant.
Draughts get worse, not better. As old mastic keeps shrinking, the gap widens, and a cold room gets colder. A new joint closes it up.
