Trusted regrouting in Surrey Canal

What we are called out for in Surrey Canal

Some grout fails because it was mixed or laid badly. Grout that was too wet, not packed in or cleaned off too hard tends to wash out early.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Grout stained black or orange that will not clean
  • A grout colour that no longer suits the room
  • Floor grout that will not come clean
  • Cracked grout along the bath or tray

Surrey Canal is in London, so parking needs planning: let us know about parking bays, permits or a driveway.

About our regrouting in Surrey Canal

We work across Surrey Canal, regrouting bathrooms, showers and kitchens. Out comes the old grout, the joints are cleaned and new grout goes in, finished with new silicone at the edges. If you have floor grout that won’t come clean and grout that’s cracking and breaking up, we can put it right, on shower walls, kitchen splashbacks and bathroom floors alike.

Much of London’s older housing is Victorian and Edwardian terraces, many of them now split into flats, and bathrooms were often squeezed into small rooms. Small, steamy rooms are where mould gets into sealant and grout fastest.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right with it, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Keeping the joints in good condition

Joint life depends on how it’s used and looked after. We suggest:

  • Get any tile that moves checked promptly
  • Keep the fan on after showering
  • Give the walls a quick rinse after use
  • Skip wire brushes and scourers

Keep an eye on the silicone in the corners. Corners flex, so it’s normally the first thing to need attention, long before the grout does.

Once grout cracks, it tends to get worse. Water gets behind the tiles, and they can begin to come away and early regrouting can avoid a much bigger job.

For landlords and businesses

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.

A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.

DIY versus a professional finish

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We cut it out and start again.

The process

Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and tell you how long to leave it. The work normally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, depending on how much there is to do. Parking in much of London is by permit or pay-and-display, so it helps to know what’s near you in Surrey Canal. It helps if you can point us to a visitor permit or a bay close to the door.

  1. We start by checking the tiles for any that are loose or hollow.
  2. We rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care of the tile edges.
  3. We vacuum the joints and clean out the dust.
  4. New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
  5. Corners and edges are resealed with flexible silicone, not grout.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move anything stored near the joints
  • Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in

How the job changes by surface

Wet rooms

Both the grout and the silicone in a wet room matter. We renew both.

Kitchen splashbacks

Kitchen grout collects grease and food splashes. Once it’s stained, new grout is often the only fix.

FAQs for Surrey Canal

Can worn sealant in a flat in Surrey Canal cause a leak downstairs?

Yes, it can. Water that gets past failed sealant or cracked grout can run under the bath or tray and show up on the ceiling below. Replacing the sealant and grout before that happens is much less trouble than repairing a neighbour’s ceiling.

Do you work in hotels near Surrey Canal?

Yes, hospitality work, including hotels, is part of what we do. Work can be planned room by room, and out-of-hours working can be arranged.

Do you guarantee regrouting?

Our one-year guarantee covers every job.

How much does regrouting cost in Surrey Canal?

The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Call for a quick quote.

Should I try DIY first?

You can, for simple jobs. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. If it does not work out, we can redo it.

Where are you based?

We work from Crawley. We cover Surrey Canal and the rest of Greater London, along with the rest of our area.

What do you put in the joint?

Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, picked for each joint. We explain the product when we quote.

Is resealing included with regrouting?

We normally do. Fresh grout next to old, mouldy silicone would look odd and wouldn’t keep water out.

What regrouting looks like in Surrey Canal

London has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in. London has a lot of flats and conversions, and a failed shower or bath seal in one can show up on the ceiling below, so tired sealant is best dealt with early.

If you look after a building such as Ilderton Primary School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. If you let a flat or house near South Bermondsey station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

When it isn’t the sealant

New sealant can’t fix everything, and we will tell you before any work starts. It will not solve:

  • A leaking shower valve or waste
  • Damaged tiles that need replacing
  • Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling

Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly.
