Regrouting in Ravenswood, done properly

Grout fills the gaps between tiles, while sealant goes where tiles meet a bath, tray or worktop. When grout cracks or washes out, water has a way in behind the tiling. Our job is to rake it out and put new grout in and renew the silicone at the edges. We work on wet rooms, bathroom floors and tiled floors, and people most often call us about grout in corners that has cracked and grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned.

For a place like Ravenswood, the job is the same as anywhere: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. We just plan the journey and access beforehand.

Every job is covered by a 12-month guarantee, wherever you are in North Lanarkshire.

Should I try it myself first?

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Ravenswood

Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in.

If you let a flat or house near Greenfaulds station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again. Homes close to St Mungo's Church include some older properties, and timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

Honest limits

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • A leaking shower valve or waste
  • Damaged tiles that need replacing
  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind

Not sure which it is? You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Bathroom floors
  • Shower walls
  • Tiled floors
  • Wet rooms

Keeping the joints in good condition

How long the joints last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Have loose tiles looked at early
  • Use gentle cleaners on grout
  • Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
  • Rinse soap off the tiles after each shower

A squeegee or cloth over the tiles after use keeps water off the grout. Ventilate the room well to help it dry out.

Grout that’s washing out of a shower shouldn’t be left. Every shower pushes more water into the gaps and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.

What we do, step by step

A visit follows a simple pattern: we check the joints, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, do the work and clear up. Most jobs take anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. For a place like Ravenswood, longer drives are planned in advance. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.

  1. First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
  2. Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
  3. Dust is cleared from every joint.
  4. The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
  5. Internal corners and edges are resealed.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
  • Tell us if parking is tricky
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit

Ravenswood: your questions answered

Will you come out to Ravenswood?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Do you work for landlords with property near Greenfaulds station?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us about the property, and we will send you a clear quote.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. We are fully insured, with over 20 years’ experience in sealant work.

Does someone need to be in?

We need access to the joints, so we will agree that with you when we book. Indoors, that generally means someone at home.

Can you work on commercial sites?

Yes, regularly. Larger jobs can be planned room by room or area by area.

How soon can the shower be used after regrouting?

We give you a time before we leave. The wait depends on the products and conditions, so follow the time we give you.

Do you guarantee regrouting?

Our 12-month guarantee covers every job.

Is regrouting a chance to pick a new grout colour?

Yes. Many customers do. Darker grout can hide marks and lighter grout gives a fresher look.

What affects the quote in Ravenswood

The price is agreed before any work begins. It takes into account:

  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • How much there is to do
  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • Which sealant suits the joint

Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs. Ask us for a quote and we’ll explain what it covers.

What we need to know

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • Whether it’s a home or a business
  • Where the property is
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs

Getting a quote is simple: let us know the job and the location and its rough size. A few pictures by email make the job easier to understand.

What we are called out for in Ravenswood

Hard water and soap leave a film on grout that is hard to shift. The grout beneath can stain and weaken, which is when replacing it makes sense.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Shower grout that has worn away
  • Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
  • Splashback grout that has darkened
  • Floor grout that will not come clean

Managing a site like Our Lady's High? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

What to look for in a quote

  • Who does the work, and how experienced they are
  • Whether they seal over old material or remove it
  • When the joint can take water or movement
  • Whether VAT is included

Shower walls

Shower walls are the most common area we regrout. Gaps here let water get behind the tiling.

Kitchen splashbacks

The grout by the hob and sink takes most of the mess. We regroute and reseal the worktop joint.
