Craigmarloch Regrouting
Raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors for Craigmarloch, backed by a 12-month guarantee. Ask us for a quote.
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
- Old grout in a dated colour
- Splashback grout that has darkened
Regrouting in Craigmarloch, done properly
We take the old grout out to a consistent depth, taking care not to chip the tile edges. The joints are then vacuumed, regrouted and cleaned off, with silicone renewed in the corners. We work on kitchen splashbacks, bathroom floors and wet rooms, and people most often call us about stained grout that cleaning won’t shift and gaps where the shower grout has gone.
In and around a place like Craigmarloch, homes range from older stone-built properties to newer houses. Where a building moves, cracked grout and split sealant are usually the first signs.
We stand behind the work with a 12-month guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once the job is done.

Craigmarloch: your questions answered
Do you cover Craigmarloch for regrouting?
Yes, Craigmarloch is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing.
Do you cover smaller places like Craigmarloch?
Yes, we do. We work across all of Scotland, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
How long does the job take?
Typically it takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Bigger jobs take longer, and we’ll say how long yours will take.
Where are you based?
Our base is in Crawley, West Sussex, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.
Can you regrout just the shower?
Yes, that is common. Shower grout tends to go before the rest, so it’s often the only area that needs doing.
What information do you need?
Let us know what needs doing and where, with photos by email if possible. If we need more, we’ll ask.
Do you reseal at the same time?
We usually do. Fresh grout next to old, mouldy silicone would look odd and wouldn’t keep water out.
Do you work for hotels and businesses?
Yes. Hotels, offices and other businesses use us, and we’re fully insured.
What affects the cost of regrouting
You will get a clear quote before we start. It’s based on:
- Any mould that needs treating
- The number and length of the joints
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- The product the joint needs
Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.
What to tell us for a quote
Photos help, but a description is a good start. Please mention:
- The address or postcode of the job
- Whether it has been sealed before
- How we’d reach the joints
- Roughly how big the job is
There’s no standard price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, we give you a clear quote for your job. To arrange one, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Should I try it myself first?
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.
Craigmarloch homes and their sealant
Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out.
For landlords with property near Croy station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

What we do, step by step
Once we are on site, we check the joints match what you told us. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. After that, the work takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Somewhere like Craigmarloch may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.
- We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
- Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
- Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
- Fresh grout goes into the joints and the tile faces are wiped clean.
- The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.
Preparing for the visit
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
- Mention any tricky access

What we are called out for in Craigmarloch
Hard water and soap leave a film on grout and stick to it. The grout beneath can stain and weaken, and at that point, new grout is the better answer.
Look out for any of the following:
- Old grout in a dated colour
- Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles
- Grout washed out of a shower
- Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
Managing a site like Our Lady's High? Then we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.
Questions to ask before booking
- What the cure time is
- Is the old sealant removed completely?
- Who does the work, and how experienced they are
- How the colour is chosen
What we can’t put right
Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
- Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
- Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles

How to look after the new joints
Looking after new joints is easy:
- Use gentle cleaners on grout
- Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
- Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
- Don’t ignore a tile that feels loose
Before we leave, you’ll know when the shower can be used. Stick to that time, and avoid scrubbing the new grout hard for the first few days.
Grout that stays dark after cleaning is starting to fail. Regrouting at this stage is straightforward while the tiles are still sound.
What the job involves on each surface
Corners and edges
Corners flex as the building moves, so they get silicone, not grout.
Kitchen splashbacks
Splashback grout picks up grease and cooking stains. Once it’s stained, new grout is often the only fix.
