Regrouting in Pitcalnie
Raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors for homeowners, landlords and businesses in Pitcalnie. Fully insured, ARBOMaster approved and guaranteed for a year.
- Grout that makes sound tiles look old
- Cracked grout along the bath or tray
- Splashback grout that has darkened
What happens if it’s left?
Patching a few joints can look like a quick win, but patched grout rarely matches the rest, and the old grout keeps failing around them. Doing the full area gives you one colour and sound joints throughout. Around Pitcalnie, water from a failed joint in an older stone home can soak into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.
We don’t show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will talk you through it.

How we handle regrouting in Pitcalnie
If you’ve been scrubbing grout that won’t come clean, the discolouration has normally soaked into the grout. Replacing it is the lasting answer, and it’s a chance to change the colour too. Common call-outs are for grout that’s cracking and breaking up and corners filled with grout instead of silicone, on bathroom floors, bathroom wall tiles and shower walls.
Being further from a city doesn’t change the work: everything old is cut out, the joints are cleaned and dried, and new sealant or grout goes in. The journey and access are simply planned in advance.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right with it in that time, tell us and we will put it right.

Questions from Pitcalnie
Do you cover Pitcalnie for regrouting?
Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Pitcalnie is part of that. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear price.
Do you work for landlords with property near Fearn station?
Yes, we work for landlords and letting agents. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us about the property, and we will give you a clear price.
Should I try DIY first?
For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned.
Will you leave a mess?
Tidy work is part of the job. We protect what’s around the joints.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. We’re fully insured, with over 20 years’ experience in sealant work.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
When can I use the shower again?
You’ll get a clear time from us before we go. Both the grout and the silicone need time to cure before they get wet.
DIY versus a professional finish
If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
What regrouting looks like in Pitcalnie
Pitcalnie is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that doesn’t dry out.
In and around Pitcalnie, as anywhere, good regrouting starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint. Letting a property close to Fearn station? Then a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

Different surfaces, different methods
Kitchen splashbacks
We can regroute a splashback with the kitchen left in place. The worktop edge is finished with silicone.
Shower walls
A shower wall is soaked daily, so its grout takes the most punishment. It’s often the first place grout washes out.
Landlords, agents and businesses in Pitcalnie
Hotels need rooms back in use, so the work can be planned room by room. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.
Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.
How we quote for regrouting
There’s no set price list, because jobs vary so much. What we look at:
- Any working-time requirements on site
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- The number and length of the joints
- Any mould that needs treating
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed. Call for a quick quote and we will explain what it covers.
What to tell us for a quote
To help us quote quickly, please include:
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- If someone has resealed it before
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
A good description makes for an accurate quote. Let us know the location, the problem and roughly how many joints.
