Regrouting in Patna

Regrouting in Patna, done properly

We work across Patna, regrouting bathrooms, showers and kitchens. Out comes the old grout, the joints are cleaned and new grout goes in, and we finish by resealing the edges. If you have floor grout that has worn and darkened and good tiles let down by tired grout, we can help, whatever the surface.

Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Where a building moves, cracked grout and split sealant are normally the first signs.

You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

How it works

When we get to you, we check the joints match what you told us. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. Most jobs then take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. In smaller Scottish places, parking is usually less of an issue than access and distance. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work, and the visit is planned around that.

  1. Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
  2. The old grout is removed to an even depth.
  3. We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. We finish with silicone in the moving joints.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
  • Mention if the joints have been sealed before
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children

Patna: your questions answered

Is Patna in your area for regrouting?

Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Patna is part of that. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job, and we will give you a clear quote.

Is Patna within the area you cover?

Yes. Patna is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Is it messy?

No. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. Full insurance covers our work, and we can confirm the details when we quote.

How soon can the shower be used after regrouting?

Before we leave, we will tell you how long to wait. The grout and sealant both need to cure before the shower is used.

Can you regrout if a few tiles are loose?

Tiles that have come away need sorting first. We’ll point them out at the start.

How long does the job take?

A typical job takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room, including preparation and clearing up. We’ll confirm how long when we quote.

Where do you work from?

We’re a Crawley-based firm. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.

Landlord and commercial work in Patna

Hotels need rooms back in use, so the work can be planned room by room. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.

Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy, and it’s easy to sort out between tenants. We can quote for more than one property at once.

Regrouting in Patna: local notes

Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.

Can I do it myself?

Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

How to look after the new joints

Looking after new joints is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
  • Give the walls a quick rinse after use
  • Use gentle cleaners on grout
  • Run the extractor fan during and after a shower

Give the new grout the time we tell you before using the shower, so it cures fully. From then on, a quick rinse after showering helps and let the room air.

If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Each shower drives water into the open joints, and that water can reach the wall or the floor below.

What affects the cost of regrouting

Your quote is based on your job. We take into account:

  • Any mould that needs treating
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • Whether the work is at height
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove

A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting. If you’re unsure, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.

Asking for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. Just tell us:

  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • A few pictures by email, if you can
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • Whether it has been sealed before

We quote each job on its own, so the first step is telling us about yours. Simply email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and describe the job and send photos if you have them.

How the job changes by surface

Shower walls

The grout in a shower takes the brunt of the water. We rake it out and regrout and renew the silicone at the edges.

Bathroom floors

Cracked floor grout can point to movement underneath. We check the tiles before regrouting.

What we are called out for in Patna

Movement behind the tiles cracks grout. Loose tiles, bouncy floors and timber walls can all do it, which is why we check the tiles first.

If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:

  • Grout stained black or orange that will not clean
  • Good tiles let down by tired grout
  • Floor grout that has worn and darkened
  • Splashback grout that has darkened

In and around Patna, as anywhere, good regrouting starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

What to look for in a quote

  • How the joint is cleaned and prepared
  • Whether all the old sealant comes out first
  • What insurance they hold
  • What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
