Regrouting in Newtyle
Specialist regrouting for Newtyle: the right sealant, proper preparation and a neat finish. Call for a quick quote.
- Grout in corners that has cracked
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
- Stained grout that cleaning will not shift
About our regrouting in Newtyle
Regrouting is normally paired with resealing. Grout belongs between tiles, but internal corners and edges flex, so they’re sealed with silicone rather than grout. Renewing both together means nothing is left half-done. Typical jobs include kitchen splashback grout stained by grease and crumbling grout between the tiles, on bathroom floors, bathroom wall tiles and shower walls.
Bathrooms in smaller places like Newtyle work just as hard as those in the cities. Limescale is less of a problem with Scotland’s generally soft water, but mould still takes hold in damp sealant and grout.
We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right with it in that time, tell us and we’ll put it right.

What happens on the day
Our applicators work methodically: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. Typically it takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room and we leave things clean and tidy. Somewhere like Newtyle may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.
- Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
- The old grout is removed to an even depth.
- The joints are vacuumed clean.
- We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
- Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.
Getting ready for the visit
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Move anything stored near the joints
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can

Can I do it myself?
If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
Leave it or put it right?
Once grout cracks, water can get behind the tiling. Leave it, and the adhesive or the wall behind can suffer, which turns a regrout into a retile. Sorting it early keeps the job simple. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs, along with when we can work on site. Call for a quick quote and we’ll explain what it covers.

What we’re called out for in Newtyle
Soap scum and limescale build up on grout and stick to it. The grout beneath can stain and weaken, which is when replacing it makes sense.
Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:
- Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
- Floor grout that has worn and darkened
- Shower grout that has worn away
- Cracked grout along the bath or tray
In and around Newtyle, as anywhere, good regrouting starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Newtyle
In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.
Whether the job is in Newtyle itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

What sealant work can’t fix
Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what new sealant won’t do:
- Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
- Tiles that are chipped or split
- A floor or wall that keeps moving

Questions from Newtyle
Is there a guarantee on regrouting in Newtyle?
Every job comes with our 12-month guarantee, wherever it is. We are fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
Can you do regrouting in Newtyle?
Yes, Newtyle is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job, and we will give you a clear price.
Is it messy?
We keep the work tidy. We protect what’s around the joints.
Do I have to be there?
For indoor joints, yes, someone needs to let us in. Once we have agreed the job, you don’t need to watch us work.
Should corners be grouted or sealed?
Internal corners and edges are sealed with flexible silicone. Grout in those joints cracks as the building moves.
Will regrouting fix loose tiles?
If tiles are loose, something behind them has generally failed. Grout on its own won’t fix that and we will say so before going ahead.
Is regrouting a chance to pick a new grout colour?
Yes, regrouting is the time to do it. Mention the colour you have in mind when you drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
What do you put in the joint?
Each joint gets the product that suits it. Where it moves, gets wet or faces the weather makes a difference, and we’ll tell you what we are using.
