Trusted regrouting in New Luce

Can I do it myself?

A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.

Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.

Regrouting in New Luce

We work across New Luce, regrouting bathrooms, showers and kitchens. Out comes the old grout, the joints are cleaned and new grout goes in, and we finish by resealing the edges. We’re often asked to deal with gaps where the shower grout has gone and corners filled with grout instead of silicone, across bathroom wall tiles, tiled floors and wet rooms.

A bathroom in a place like New Luce gets the same daily wear as one in a city flat. Limescale is less of a problem with Scotland’s generally soft water, but mould still takes hold in damp sealant and grout.

We stand behind the work with a 12-month guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once the job is done.

Why it’s worth doing now in New Luce

Cleaning products may brighten grout for a time, but stains and mould that have soaked in tend to return. New grout, with silicone in the corners, deals with the cause. Around New Luce, water from a failed joint in an older stone home can soak into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.

There are no prices on our website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. Call for a quick quote and we’ll talk you through it.

What happens on the day

Our applicators work methodically: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. For most jobs that takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, and the area is left clean. In smaller Scottish places, parking is normally less of an issue than access and distance. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work, and the visit is planned around that.

  1. First, we check for loose or hollow tiles and point out any we find.
  2. Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
  3. Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
  4. We fill the joints with new grout, then clean the tiles.
  5. Corners and edges are resealed with flexible silicone, not grout.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
  • Let us know about parking restrictions

Regrouting in New Luce: local notes

Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.

Honest limits

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • A leaking shower valve or waste
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Movement in a stud wall or floor

If you are not sure, just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Tiled floors
  • Shower walls
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Bathroom floors
  • Wet rooms

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after new joints is easy:

  • Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
  • Open a window or run the fan to clear steam
  • Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
  • Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges

If a tile starts to feel loose, get it looked at early. A loose tile cracks the grout around it and open a path for water.

Grout that’s washing out of a shower shouldn’t be left. Every shower pushes more water into the gaps and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.

FAQs for New Luce

Is New Luce in your area for regrouting?

Yes, New Luce is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job.

What guarantee comes with regrouting in New Luce?

All our work, in New Luce and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

Could my grout be a different colour after regrouting?

Yes, plenty of people choose to. Darker grout can hide marks, while lighter grout brightens a room.

What do you need from me for a quote?

A short description and the location. If we need more, we’ll ask.

How long will you be here?

Most jobs take a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Your quote will say how long we expect yours to take.

Will it make a mess?

Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.

Should I try DIY first?

It depends on the job. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional.

Do you work for hotels and businesses?

Yes. We work in offices, washrooms, hotels and other commercial premises. Working times can be discussed when we quote.

Surface by surface

Bathroom floors

Regrouting a floor brightens the whole room. Floor-to-wall and bath joints are sealed, not grouted.

Wet rooms

Regrouting a wet room helps keep water on the surface of the tiles. It doesn’t repair failed tanking underneath.
