Trusted regrouting in Nag's Head

Regrouting for homes and businesses in Nag's Head

Before any work starts, the tiles are checked. If any tiles are loose or sound hollow, we tell you, because regrouting will not fix what’s behind them. Where the tiles are sound, regrouting gives the area a new lease of life. If you have greasy, stained grout behind the hob and grout in a colour the owner wants to change, we can help, whatever the surface.

In much of London, period terraces have been converted into flats over the years, with bathrooms fitted into whatever space was available. Small, steamy rooms are where mould gets into sealant and grout fastest, and homes in Nag's Head are no different.

All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months.

What affects the quote in Nag's Head

There’s no set price list, because no two jobs are the same. What we look at:

  • The number of rooms or windows
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • The product the joint needs
  • Access and height

Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You will know the price before we begin.

What we need to know

To make quoting easier, let us know:

  • Whether it’s a home or a business
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • A few photos by email, if you can

A good description makes for an accurate quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is, and email pictures if that is easy.

The process

Once we are on site, we check the joints match what you told us. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. Many London jobs are in flats, so we come ready for stairs, narrow hallways and shared entrances. Mention any building rules, key holders or managing agents when you book.

  1. We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
  2. Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
  3. Dust is cleared from every joint.
  4. The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
  5. We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.

Preparing for the visit

  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
  • Mention any tricky access

Ask for a quote

Getting a quote is simple: let us know the job and the location. A few pictures by email make the job easier to understand, and we’ll take it from there.

Advice

Aftercare tips

Good habits help new joints last longer. A few tips:

  • Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
  • Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
  • Rinse the tiles after showering
  • Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout

Use a gentle cleaner on the grout with a soft brush. Keep harsh bleach and acid limescale removers away from it because they wear grout away.

Grout that stays dark after cleaning is starting to fail. At this point it’s a simple regrout while the tiles are still sound.

Leave it or put it right?

Bleach can lighten stained grout for a while, but stains and mould that have soaked in tend to return. New grout, with silicone in the corners, deals with the cause. In older London homes, water behind a failed joint soaks into brick and timber without much sign, and once it shows in Nag's Head, the repair is bigger than a sealant job.

What it costs depends on the size of the job, how much old material has to come out and how easy the joints are to reach. You will have a clear quote before any work starts, so you know where you stand.

Can I do it myself?

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.

Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

Regrouting around Nag's Head

London has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in. In a London flat, water from a failed bath or shower seal can reach the neighbours below, which is why it’s worth fixing early.

As a London address, Nag's Head can be tricky for parking: tell us about permits, visitor bays or off-street space when you book. If you let a flat or house near Drayton Park station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

Your questions about regrouting in Nag's Head

I let a flat near Drayton Park station. Can you help?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the details for a clear quote.

I live in a flat in Nag's Head. Can a failed seal leak into the flat below?

Yes, it can. Water that gets past failed sealant or cracked grout can run under the bath or tray and show up on the ceiling below. Replacing the sealant and grout before that happens is much less trouble than repairing a neighbour’s ceiling.

How much does regrouting cost in Nag's Head?

There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: its size, the old material, access and the product needed. You will get a clear quote before work begins.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes, regularly. We can plan bigger jobs in stages.

Are you insured?

Yes, we’re fully insured for every job we do.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes. Sealing over old sealant is the main reason resealing fails early, so we never do it.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Yes, we can. More than one area can go on one quote.

Do I have to be there?

If the work is inside, we need someone to let us in. Once we have agreed the job, you don’t need to watch us work.

What we are called out for in Nag's Head

Grout used in corners or along the bath cracks as the bath or tray moves. They need flexible sealant, and if they’re grouted, a crack soon lets water in.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Cracked grout along the bath or tray
  • Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
  • A grout colour that no longer suits the room
  • Shower grout that has worn away

In the older streets around St Joseph and St Padarn's Church, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

What your quote should include

  • Which colour the sealant will be
  • Are they insured?
  • How hidden problems are handled
  • Whether they seal over old material or remove it
