Regrouting for Imeraval homes and businesses

Regrouting for homes and businesses in Imeraval

We work across Imeraval, regrouting bathrooms, showers and kitchens. Out comes the old grout, the joints are cleaned and new grout goes in, and we finish by resealing the edges. Common call-outs are for shower grout that has worn away and kitchen splashback grout stained by grease, across bathroom wall tiles, tiled floors and bathroom floors.

A bathroom in a place like Imeraval gets the same daily wear as one in a city flat. Generally soft Scottish water means less limescale, but steam still lets mould into sealant and grout.

All our work comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Argyll and Bute.

How it works

There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Show us the job and we’ll take it from there. The work itself takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area, including the tidy-up. Outdoor work around Imeraval depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors is not affected.

  1. First, we check for loose or hollow tiles and point out any we find.
  2. We rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care of the tile edges.
  3. Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
  4. New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
  5. We reseal the internal corners and edges with silicone.

Preparing for the visit

Bathrooms and kitchens in Imeraval

Imeraval is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in.

Homes close to St John's Church (Port Ellen) include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. In and around Imeraval, as anywhere, good regrouting starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Imeraval is in Argyll and Bute. We carry out regrouting for householders, landlords and businesses in Imeraval. Imeraval is one of 118 towns and villages in Argyll and Bute where we work for regrouting. We also work in Glasgow, about 77 miles from Imeraval.

Here we cover the PA42 postcode area for regrouting. Regrouting is available to properties on McKerral Road and Dail na Mara and the roads around them. If you’re just outside Imeraval, we cover Port Ellen (1 mile east), Ardbeg (4 miles east), Bowmore (9 miles north), Port Charlotte (10 miles north-west) and Bun Othan (12 miles west). Island and remote addresses take a little more planning, so please mention your location when you email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

What sealant work can’t fix

To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Movement in a stud wall or floor
  • A leaking shower valve or waste

If you’re not sure, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Why act early in Imeraval

Cracked grout lets water behind the tiles. Left alone, that water can loosen tiles or damage the wall, which turns a regrout into a retile. Sorting it early keeps the job simple. When the nearest tradesperson is a drive away, it’s tempting to leave a small leak, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.

Doing several joints on one visit normally makes better use of the time than several visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.

Why Imeraval customers choose us

  • We never seal over old sealant
  • Full insurance on every job
  • Sanitary silicone with an anti-fungal additive in wet areas
  • Domestic, commercial and hotel work

Read our cost guide or our reviews.

Can I do it myself?

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, such as a straightforward joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.

Imeraval questions

Will you come out to Imeraval?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across all of Scotland. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Is there a guarantee on regrouting in Imeraval?

Every job comes with our 12-month guarantee, wherever it is. We’re fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Could my grout be a different colour after regrouting?

Yes. With the old grout removed, the new colour fills the whole joint, not just the surface.

How long will you be here?

Typically it takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. Bigger jobs take longer.

Do I need to be at home?

If the work is inside, we need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. We are ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Always. Sealing over old sealant is the main reason resealing fails early, so we never do it.

Where do you work from?

We are based in Crawley, West Sussex, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.

Landlord and commercial work in Imeraval

We also work for property managers and facilities teams in Imeraval and across Argyll and Bute. We can quote a run of properties together, and we are fully insured.

Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, the work is the same standard: the old material taken out, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee.

Surface by surface

Wet rooms

New grout in a wet room keeps the surface sound. It can’t fix waterproofing below the tiles.

Kitchen splashbacks

We can regroute a splashback with the kitchen left in place. The joint along the worktop is resealed with silicone.

What affects the cost of regrouting

Your quote is based on your job. We take into account:

  • The size of the job
  • Whether the work is at height
  • Any mould that needs treating
  • When we can work, for business premises

Instead of a standard rate, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You’ll know the price before we begin.

Helping us quote

When you call or email, these details help:

  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • The rough size of the job
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height

To get a quote, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the location and a short description of the problem. You will have a clear quote before any work starts.
