About our regrouting in Fullerton

A bathroom with good tiles can still look worn if the grout has gone. Regrouting replaces the grout and keeps the tiles you have, so there’s no stripping out and no new tiles to choose. Common call-outs are for gaps where the shower grout has gone and greasy, stained grout behind the hob, across tiled floors, bathroom floors and shower walls.

Being in a small place like Fullerton makes no difference to the job itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. Once we are there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we will sort it.

What we cannot put right

In fairness, some problems need a different trade:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • A leaking shower valve or waste
  • Tiles that are chipped or split

Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

What affects the quote in Fullerton

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We take into account:

  • When we can work, for business premises
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with

What it costs depends on how much there is to do, how much old material has to come out and how easy the joints are to reach. You will have a clear quote before any work starts.

Asking for a quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • Any previous sealing or DIY work

  • What’s wrong with the joints now

To get a quote, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the location and a short description of the problem. You’ll have a clear quote before we start.

Different surfaces, different methods

Wet rooms

Wet rooms have water across the floor, so sound grout really matters. We check the tiles first.

Kitchen splashbacks

We can regroute a splashback with the kitchen left in place. The worktop edge is finished with silicone.

How the visit works

The work is kept neat and contained to the joints we are treating, so you can carry on as normal. The job generally takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. Somewhere as small as Fullerton, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
  2. Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
  3. Dust is cleared from every joint.
  4. We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
  5. We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear the area around the work
  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints

Advice

Keeping the joints in good condition

Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. We recommend:

  • Stick to mild products for cleaning grout
  • Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
  • Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
  • Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout

Give the new grout the time we tell you before using the shower, so it can harden properly. From then on, a quick rinse after showering helps and let the room air.

Once grout cracks, it tends to get worse. Water gets in behind and the tiles can start to loosen, so regrouting early can save a retile.

What we are called out for in Fullerton

A poor original job is a common cause. Grout that was too wet, not packed in or cleaned off too hard can wash out within a few years.

It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:

  • Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
  • Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
  • Old grout in a dated colour
  • Greasy, stained grout behind the hob

For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Nicholas, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.
