Need regrouting in Evanton?

The process

Good joint work is mostly preparation, and we do not rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. In total, it usually takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. For a place like Evanton, longer drives are planned in advance. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.

  1. We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
  2. Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
  3. The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
  4. The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
  5. We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can

Advice

About our regrouting in Evanton

Our applicators rake out the old grout to an even depth, without damaging the edges of the tiles. After vacuuming, new grout goes in and the tiles are wiped clean, and the corners get fresh silicone. If you are dealing with floor grout that won’t come clean and grout in a colour the owner wants to change, we can help.

In and around a place like Evanton, homes range from older stone-built properties to newer houses. Older buildings can move a little, and that shows first in cracked grout and split sealant.

Each job carries a 12-month guarantee.

FAQs for Evanton

Will you come out to Evanton?

Yes, we do. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

I let a flat near Alness station. Can you help?

Yes. We work for landlords and agents as well as householders, and several properties can be quoted together. Just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the address and what needs doing, and we will give you a clear quote.

How long will you be here?

A typical job takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, including preparation and clearing up. Your quote will say how long we expect yours to take.

Is resealing included with regrouting?

Normally we do both. Grout fills tile gaps and sealant handles the moving joints, so we renew both and it’s all in the quote.

Can you change the grout colour?

It can. Because the old grout is raked out, the new colour goes all the way into the joint, not just the surface.

Do you guarantee regrouting?

Our one-year guarantee covers every job.

What do you put in the joint?

Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, chosen to suit the joint. We’ll tell you what we are using and why.

Are you insured?

Yes. Mr Mastic is fully insured, with over 20 years’ experience in sealant work.

Do you need regrouting in Evanton?

Grout used in corners or along the bath cracks as the bath or tray moves. Those joints should be silicone, and when they aren’t, water gets in.

The most common problems we see are:

  • Floor grout that will not come clean
  • Splashback grout that has darkened
  • Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
  • Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles

If you let a flat or house near Alness station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

What affects the quote in Evanton

For a quick quote, just ask. The main things that affect it are:

  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • Whether the work is at height
  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • How much there is to do

Instead of a standard rate, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You’ll know the price before we begin.

Helping us quote

There’s no need for technical detail. Just tell us:

  • The address or postcode of the job
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • A few photos by email, if you can

Want a quote for regrouting? Please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details. We will explain what we’d do and give you a clear price before any work starts.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:

  • Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
  • Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
  • Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
  • Get any tile that moves checked promptly

A squeegee or cloth over the tiles after use stops soap and water sitting on the grout. Run the extractor fan or open a window to help it dry out.

Grout that is washing out of a shower shouldn’t be left. Each shower drives water into the open joints, and that water can reach the wall or the floor below.

Can I do it myself?

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We remove it and do the joint properly.

Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.

Regrouting in Evanton: local notes

Evanton is close to the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.

In and around Evanton, as anywhere, good regrouting starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

How the job changes by surface

Bathroom floors

If floor grout keeps cracking, the floor may be moving. We check the tiles before regrouting.

Wet rooms

New grout in a wet room keeps the surface sound. It can’t fix waterproofing below the tiles.

Why it’s worth doing now in Evanton

Grout pens and paint-on colourants only cover the surface. They do not fill cracks or stop water and stains often come back through. Raking out and regrouting replaces the grout itself. In an older home around Evanton, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster.

The cost depends on the amount of work, how much old material has to come out and how easy the joints are to reach. You will have a clear quote before any work starts, so you know where you stand.
