East Saltoun: your questions answered

What guarantee comes with regrouting in East Saltoun?

All our work, in East Saltoun and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

Do you cover East Saltoun for regrouting?

Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and East Saltoun is part of that. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing, and we will give you a clear price.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. Hotels, offices and other businesses use us, and we are fully insured.

What do you put in the joint?

Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, chosen to suit the joint. We will tell you what we’re using and why.

Do I have to be there?

Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. Indoors, that normally means someone at home.

Can you change the grout colour?

Yes, plenty of people choose to. Darker grout can hide marks, while lighter grout brightens a room.

Can tenants book the work?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are glad to have it sorted.

How much does regrouting cost in East Saltoun?

Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Call for a quick quote.

How we handle regrouting in East Saltoun

We take the old grout out to a consistent depth, without damaging the edges of the tiles. The joints are then vacuumed, regrouted and cleaned off, with silicone renewed in the corners. If you have gaps where the shower grout has gone and greasy, stained grout behind the hob, we can put it right, on wet rooms, tiled floors and bathroom floors alike.

Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Where a building moves, cracked grout and split sealant are usually the first signs.

Every job is covered by a 12-month guarantee.

What sealant work cannot fix

Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what new sealant will not do:

  • Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
  • Cracked or broken tiles
  • Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling

Not sure which it is? You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly.

Regrouting in East Saltoun: local notes

Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.

In and around East Saltoun, as anywhere, good regrouting starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

What we do, step by step

At the end, we look at the finished work together. The visit itself generally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, depending on the size of the job. Around East Saltoun, distance and access matter more than parking. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints, and the visit is planned around that.

  1. Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
  2. We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
  3. The joints are vacuumed clean.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.

Advice

How to look after the new joints

After the cure time, these simple habits help:

  • Skip wire brushes and scourers
  • Give the walls a quick rinse after use
  • Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
  • Check the corner silicone every few months

Use a gentle cleaner on the grout with a soft brush. Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers because they wear grout away.

If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Every shower pushes more water into the gaps and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.

Quotes for regrouting in East Saltoun

Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • The product the joint needs
  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • The amount of work

What it costs depends on how much there is to do, how hard the old material is to remove and how easy the joints are to reach. You will have a clear quote before any work starts, so you know where you stand.

What we need to know

To help us quote quickly, let us know:

  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • Where the job is, and your postcode

Getting a quote is simple: let us know what needs doing and where, and roughly how big it is. A few pictures by email make the job easier to understand, and we’ll come back to you with a quote.

Surface by surface

Wet rooms

Wet rooms have water across the floor, so sound grout really matters. We check for loose tiles before starting.

Kitchen splashbacks

We can regroute a splashback with the kitchen left in place. The joint along the worktop is resealed with silicone.

Do you need regrouting in East Saltoun?

A bathroom that stays damp keeps the grout wet, and damp grout is where mould grows. Black marks that come back after cleaning are often in the grout itself.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • Cracked grout along the bath or tray
  • Cracked or crumbling grout lines
  • Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
  • Floor grout that has worn and darkened

If you live in an older home near Saltoun Parish Church, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.
