Regrouting in Drem
Before work begins, the tiles are checked. If any tiles are loose or sound hollow, we tell you, since new grout cannot fix a problem underneath. With sound tiles, regrouting is a tidy, lasting improvement. If you are dealing with old grout in a dated colour and greasy, stained grout behind the hob, we can put it right.
Bathrooms in smaller places like Drem work just as hard as those in the cities. Limescale is less of a problem with Scotland’s generally soft water, but mould still takes hold in damp sealant and grout.
Whatever the size of the job, you get the same 12-month guarantee.

Landlord and commercial work in Drem
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we’ll quote.
Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report. Several properties can go on one quote.
Regrouting around Drem
Drem is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.
Rented homes near Drem station change hands often, and clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

Honest limits
New sealant cannot fix everything, and we’ll tell you before any work starts. It will not solve:
- Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
- Damaged tiles that need replacing
Not sure which it is? You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Common problems we fix in Drem
Harsh cleaners and scrubbing wear grout away. Bleach and acidic limescale removers can attack it over time, until the joints are rough and low.
Any of these means the joints need attention:
- Grout stained black or orange that will not clean
- Old grout in a dated colour
- Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
Around Drem, as everywhere, regrouting is only as good as the preparation behind it.
Questions to ask before you book
- What product goes in the joint
- How the colour is chosen
- Whether VAT is included
- Whether all the old sealant comes out first
Can I do it myself?
A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.
Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.
How it works
Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. Typically it takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Outdoor work around Drem depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors isn’t affected.
- We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
- Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
- The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
- We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
- Internal corners and edges are resealed.

Looking after it afterwards
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
- Keep the fan on after showering
- Have loose tiles looked at early
- Do not use strong acidic cleaners on grout
Use a gentle cleaner on the grout and a soft brush. Keep harsh bleach and acid limescale removers away from it because they wear grout away.
Stains that will not clean are a sign the grout is breaking down. At this point it’s a simple regrout while the tiles are still sound.
How we quote for regrouting
You’ll get a clear quote before any work starts. It’s based on:
- Whether the work is at height
- The number and length of the joints
- The type of sealant required
- How many areas need sealing
Every job is a little different, so each one gets its own quote. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part.
Asking for a quote
You don’t need to know the technical terms. Just tell us:
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- The address or postcode of the job
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
For regrouting in Drem, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk. Tell us what the problem is and where, and we’ll agree the price before any work begins.
Questions from Drem
Do you cover Drem for regrouting?
Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Drem is part of that. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing.
Do you cover smaller places like Drem?
Yes. Drem is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across all of Scotland. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Yes. Tell us about everything you’d like done.
What should I tell you?
A short description and the location, with photos by email if possible. If we need more, we will ask.
Could my grout be a different colour after regrouting?
It can. With the old grout removed, the new colour fills the whole joint rather than sitting on top.
Is there any odour?
There can be a smell while the sealant cures, but it fades. Opening a window helps.
Can tenants book the work?
We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure your landlord agrees.
What goes in the corners, grout or silicone?
Flexible sealant. Grout is for the joints between tiles and moving joints need sealant.
