Dailly Regrouting
Raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors for Dailly, backed by a 12-month guarantee. Ask us for a quote.
- Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
- Floor grout that has worn and darkened
- Crumbling grout between the tiles
Regrouting in Dailly
Most regrouting jobs include resealing too. Grout belongs between tiles, but corners and edges move, so they’re sealed with silicone rather than grout. Doing both at once leaves the whole area sound. We work on wet rooms, kitchen splashbacks and shower walls, and people most often call us about floor grout that has worn and darkened and kitchen splashback grout stained by grease.
Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Older buildings can move a little, and that shows first in cracked grout and split sealant.
Every job comes with a one-year guarantee.

Why act early in Dailly
Grout pens and paint-on colourants only cover the surface. They will not fill gaps or keep water out, and stains can show through again. Raking out and regrouting replaces the grout itself. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.
No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part, and we will explain the quote if you ask.
What you get with us
- Experience in homes, commercial sites and hotels
- Quality sealants from Arbo and Everbuild
- Anti-fungal silicone where joints get wet
- Any old sealant cut out fully, not covered over
See our cost guide and customer reviews.
How to look after the new joints
So the new joints stay in good condition:
- Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
- Give the walls a quick rinse after use
- Get any tile that moves checked promptly
- Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
Have any tile that moves checked right away. Movement will crack the new grout and open a path for water.
Leaving failed grout can mean tiles come loose. By then, new grout alone isn’t enough, so it’s worth acting early.
What we cannot put right
Sealant isn’t the answer to every problem, and we will tell you before we start. Sealant won’t put right:
- Movement in a stud wall or floor
- A leaking shower valve or waste
- Damaged tiles that need replacing
If in doubt, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think before booking.
Surfaces we seal
- Wet rooms
- Shower walls
- Kitchen splashbacks
- Bathroom floors
- Tiled floors
- Bathroom wall tiles
The process
You don’t need to clear the whole room or building, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the work takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area in most cases. For a place like Dailly, longer drives are planned in advance. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.
- We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
- The old grout is removed to an even depth.
- We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
- We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
- We finish with silicone in the moving joints.
Before we arrive
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules

What the job involves on each surface
Kitchen splashbacks
Kitchen grout collects grease and food splashes. Once it’s stained, new grout is often the only fix.
Bathroom floors
Floor grout takes foot traffic as well as water. It wears and darkens over time.

What regrouting looks like in Dailly
Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.

Dailly questions
Do you cover smaller places like Dailly?
Yes. Dailly is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Is regrouting in Dailly guaranteed?
All our work, in Dailly and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
How long will you be here?
Typically it takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Larger jobs naturally take longer, and we will tell you how long to expect.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. Mr Mastic is fully insured.
Can tenants book the work?
Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.
Is there any odour?
That depends on the sealant. Some products have a noticeable smell, others very little, and any smell fades as they cure.
Do I have to be there?
For indoor joints, yes, someone needs to let us in. Once we’ve agreed the job, you don’t need to watch us work.
Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?
Normally we do both. Grout and sealant do different jobs, so we renew both and include it in your quote.
Do you need regrouting in Dailly?
Strong cleaning products and hard scrubbing slowly erode grout. Some bleaches and acid descalers break grout down with repeated use, leaving the joints sunken and rough.
Look out for these signs:
- Gaps where the shower grout has gone
- Floor grout that won’t come clean
- Cracked or crumbling grout lines
- Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
For jobs in and around Dailly, choosing the right material for each joint is as important as a tidy finish.
