Carntyne Regrouting
Problem with your tiled areas in Carntyne? We remove the old material, prepare the joints and seal them properly, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
- Cracked grout along the bath or tray
- Floor grout that will not come clean
- Gaps where the shower grout has gone
Regrouting in Carntyne, done properly
We take the old grout out to a consistent depth, taking care not to chip the tile edges. After vacuuming, new grout goes in and the tiles are wiped clean, and the corners get fresh silicone. Typical jobs include kitchen splashback grout stained by grease and crumbling grout between the tiles, across bathroom floors, kitchen splashbacks and bathroom wall tiles.
Scotland’s cities have a lot of flats, from sandstone or granite tenements to modern blocks, as well as houses in the suburbs. Scottish water is generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas, but mould still grows into sealant and grout in a steamy bathroom.
We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we’ll sort it.

Landlord and commercial work in Carntyne
Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy. Several properties can be quoted together.
If you manage several properties in or around Carntyne, jobs at different addresses can go on one quote. Just tell us the addresses and what each one needs, and pictures by email help.
Why deal with it now?
Regrouting keeps the tiles you already have. Retiling means stripping the walls, making good and choosing new tiles, and the room is out of use for longer. If the tiles are sound, regrouting is the simpler fix. In a Scottish city tenement, failed sealant affects more than one flat: a leak can come through the ceiling below, and gaps in shared walls or fire-rated joints matter to every flat.
Combining jobs into one visit usually makes better use of the time than several visits. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.

What we do, step by step
When we arrive, we start by going over the job with you. We protect the surfaces around the joints before any work begins. The work usually takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. In a city area like Carntyne, parking may be by permit or pay-and-display, so tell us what’s nearby. For flats, mention the door entry system and any shared-stair arrangements.
- First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
- Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
- The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
- We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
- Internal corners and edges are resealed.
How to prepare
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
- Tell us if parking is tricky

Related advice
Should I try it myself first?
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
How to look after the new joints
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
- Rinse soap off the tiles after each shower
- Get any tile that moves checked promptly
- Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
If a tile starts to feel loose, get it looked at early. Movement will crack the new grout and lets water in.
Small problems with grout are quick to put right. Left for a few years, they can become a leak, so get it looked at when you notice it.

Regrouting in Carntyne: local notes
Glasgow has a lot of sandstone tenements, so many bathrooms sit right above a neighbour’s ceiling. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as St Andrew's Secondary School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. If you let a flat or house near Carntyne station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

What affects the cost of regrouting
We do not publish a price list, because no two jobs are the same. What we look at:
- Any mould that needs treating
- How many areas need sealing
- Any working-time requirements on site
- The type of sealant required
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, plus any working-time requirements on site. Call for a quick quote and we will go through it with you.
Helping us quote
What to tell us when you ask for a quote:
- Where the property is
- A few pictures by email, if you can

Different surfaces, different methods
Kitchen splashbacks
Splashback grout picks up grease and cooking stains. Once it’s stained, new grout is often the only fix.
Bathroom wall tiles
Tiles away from the shower stay drier but still stain and crack. New grout freshens them up.
