Quotes for regrouting in Balmedie

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We look at:

  • The number and length of the joints
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • Access and height
  • Which sealant suits the joint

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs. Call for a quick quote and we’ll go through it with you.

Asking for a quote

Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:

  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work

We don’t publish a price list, because every job is different. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To arrange one, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Regrouting for homes and businesses in Balmedie

When grout stays dark however much you clean it, the stain is often in the grout itself. Replacing it is the lasting answer and you can pick a different colour while you’re at it. If you are dealing with splashback grout that has darkened and gaps where the shower grout has gone, we can help.

A bathroom in a place like Balmedie gets the same daily wear as one in a city flat. Limescale is less of a problem with Scotland’s generally soft water, but mould still takes hold in damp sealant and grout.

All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you are.

What the job involves on each surface

Bathroom wall tiles

Grout by the basin and bath tends to mark first. We can regroute just those areas or the whole wall.

Bathroom floors

New floor grout makes a big difference to how a bathroom looks. Floor-to-wall and bath joints are sealed, not grouted.

What we can’t put right

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what new sealant will not do:

  • Tiles that are chipped or split
  • Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
  • A floor or wall that keeps moving

If you’re not sure, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

What we seal

  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Wet rooms
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Tiled floors
  • Shower walls

FAQs for Balmedie

Can you do regrouting in Balmedie?

Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Balmedie is part of that. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing.

Is there a guarantee on regrouting in Balmedie?

All our work, in Balmedie and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

What if some of my tiles are loose?

Loose tiles need refixing before regrouting. We’ll point them out before any grout comes out.

Is resealing included with regrouting?

Most of the time, yes. Grout and sealant do different jobs, so we renew both and it’s all in the quote.

Can I do it myself?

Sometimes. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. We can always put it right if it fails.

What does regrouting cost?

The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Ask us for a quote.

How long will you be here?

Most jobs take a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. We’ll confirm how long when we quote.

Do you grout the corners?

We seal corners with silicone. They flex, and grout there cracks.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.

Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report, and it’s quick to put right between tenancies. Several properties can be quoted together.

The process

When we get to you, we check the joints match what you told us. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. After that, the work takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Somewhere like Balmedie may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.

  1. First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
  2. We remove the old grout carefully.
  3. The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
  4. The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
  5. We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children

Can I do it myself?

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Balmedie

Balmedie is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Aberdeen, the Granite City, has plenty of granite tenements, where, as in any flat, a failed seal can reach the flat below.

Around Balmedie, as everywhere, regrouting is only as good as the preparation behind it. In the older streets around Belhelvie North Church, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

Looking after it afterwards

How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:

  • Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
  • Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
  • Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
  • Give the walls a quick rinse after use

A squeegee or cloth over the tiles after use keeps water off the grout. Run the extractor fan or open a window to help it dry out.

Grout that stays dark after cleaning is starting to fail. At this point it’s a simple regrout while the tiles are still sound.
