Gutter sealing in Port na Craig, done properly
Many dripping gutters are just a failed joint or end cap. We clean out the joint, dry it and reseal it using a gutter sealant. If the gutter itself has failed, we say so. We work on soffit joints, uPVC fascias and roofline trims, and common reasons people get in touch are gaps along fascia and soffit joints and damp on an inside wall under a dripping gutter.
Stone walls need a stone-friendly sealant, as acetoxy products can attack some stone. Newer houses need their movement joints and roofline trims kept sound.
All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, in Port na Craig and everywhere else we cover.

How to look after the new joints
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Sort out a dripping joint early
- Watch the wall under the gutters for staining
- Keep ladders off the guttering
- Do not leave a sagging gutter
Look at fascia and trim joints when you’re checking the gutters. Splits are easier to seal early.
Rain getting in round a garage door frame can damage what’s stored inside. A reseal sorts it.
For landlords and businesses
We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.
Letting agents often deal with us directly. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we will give you a quote.
How the job changes by surface
Garage door frames
Failed sealant around a garage door frame lets water in. We cut it out and reseal.
Roofline trims
Roofline trims rely on sealant at their joints. Split sealant lets water in.
Should I try it myself first?
What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions.
A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly.
How we quote for gutter sealing
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:
- Any working-time requirements on site
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- The number and length of the joints
- The type of sealant required
Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.
Asking for a quote
Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- The address or postcode of the job
- What’s wrong with the joints now
We do not publish a price list, because every job is different. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To get started, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.
The process
You do not need to clear the whole room or building before we come, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the work takes anything from an hour or two to a few hours for a typical job. Somewhere like Port na Craig may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.
- We look at where the water is coming from and check the gutter isn’t broken or sagging.
- We clean out the joint and take out the old sealant.
- The area is dried so the sealant can bond.
- Gutter or exterior sealant is applied and finished.
- We check the run and clear any debris we find while we’re there.
How to prepare
- Clear items away from the joints we are working on
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work

Port na Craig questions

Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Port na Craig is part of that. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.
Is Port na Craig within the area you cover?
Yes, we do. We work across all of Scotland, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Are you an approved applicator?
Yes. We are an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
Do you work on high-level gutters?
Low-level work is easiest. We will confirm the access for higher gutters once we know more.
How do I get a quote for gutter sealing in Port na Craig?
The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Ask us for a quote and we will talk you through it.
Can I do it myself?
You can, for simple jobs. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. If it doesn’t work out, we can redo it.
Can new sealant go over the old?
No. New silicone will not bond to old silicone, and anything trapped underneath, including mould and water, stays there. We remove it all first.
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes, always, and completely. New silicone does not stick to old silicone, so the joint is cleaned back first.
Outside joints around Port na Craig
Plenty of Scottish homes have harled walls, and where harling meets frames, pipes and other materials, the joint needs a flexible sealant that grips a rough surface. Private landlords in Scotland must meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping a home wind and watertight, and failed outside joints work against that.
If you live in an older home near Baptist Church, an extension built onto an older house moves differently, and the joint between them takes the strain. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Croftinloan School, its movement joints, gutters and trims need looking after like any other building’s. For landlords with property near Pitlochry station, leaking gutter joints on a rental are best caught before they stain the walls.
