Gutter, fascia & soffit sealing in Ayr, South Ayrshire
Gutter and fascia joints in Ayr need attention? We remove the old material, prepare the joints and seal them properly, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

- Open joints in fascias and soffits
Gutter sealing in Ayr, done properly
A drip at a gutter joint is easy to ignore, but the water lands on the same spot every time it rains. Resealing it is a small job while the gutter is still sound. We work on roofline trims, gutter end caps and soffit joints, and the jobs we see most are water running down the wall below the gutter and trim joints where the sealant has failed.
Harled walls are common in Scottish towns like Ayr, and the joints where harling meets windows, doors and pipes need a sealant that grips and flexes. Rooflines take their share of the weather as well.
You are covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything is not right with it, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

What gutter sealing looks like in Ayr
Ayr is close to the coast, where wind-driven rain is a fact of life and, nearer the shore, so is salt air. Both are hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, which can dry out and crack sooner where a building faces the weather. Private landlords in Scotland must meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping a home wind and watertight, and failed outside joints work against that.
For an older house near a landmark such as St Andrews Church, an extension built onto an older house moves differently, and the joint between them takes the strain. Schools such as Belmont Academy are buildings too, and larger buildings have long runs of movement joint that eventually need resealing.
Ayr is about 31 miles south-west of Glasgow, in South Ayrshire. Ayr gets the same service as everywhere we cover: the old material taken out, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee. Ayr is one of 52 places in South Ayrshire we cover. We also work in Glasgow, about 31 miles from Ayr.
Every address in KA7, KA8 and KA6 is within our area for gutter sealing, from the main roads to the quietest streets. Quotes for gutter sealing in Ayr
The quote reflects the job in front of us. We look at:
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- The number and length of the joints
- When we can work, for business premises
Doing several joints on one visit is generally more efficient than separate visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. We will give you a clear quote for the lot.
What we need to know
There’s no need for technical detail. Just tell us:
- What’s wrong with the joints now
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- How we’d reach the joints

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
We work for landlords and letting agents as well as householders. Resealing between tenancies is a simple way to keep a property in good order before the next move-in.
In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so we plan the work room by room around your bookings where we can. We have worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.
The process
We work through the job in order: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. Typically it takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access and we leave things clean and tidy. Parking around Ayr is rarely difficult, though older streets in the centre can be tight. If you are in a flat with a shared stair or a door entry system, let us know when you book.
- First we trace the drip and check the gutter isn’t damaged.
- We remove the old sealant and clean the joint.
- The joint is dried before sealing.
- A gutter sealant is applied to the joint.
- The gutter is checked and debris around the joints cleared.
How to prepare
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children

Advice
When it isn’t the sealant
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- Sagging gutters or broken brackets
- Cracked, split or warped gutter sections
- Leaks from the roof rather than a joint
Not sure which it is? You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly before booking.

DIY versus a professional finish
What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

When to call us in Ayr
When a gutter sags, its joints open. Resealing a sagging joint won’t last so the brackets need attention first.
The problems people normally mention when they call include:
- Internal damp traced to a gutter joint
- Streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint
- Drips from gutter joints and end caps
- Cracked sealant along roofline trims
Letting a property close to Ayr station? Then leaking gutter joints on a rental are best caught before they stain the walls.

Why it’s worth doing now in Ayr
Water from a leaking joint hits the same spot every time. Left, it can stain walls and lead to damp so early sealing is worthwhile. In Ayr, wind and rain soon get through failed outside joints. Indoors, failed sealant lets water into floors and ceilings.
Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.
