Auchengray Gutter Sealing
Gutter sealing for Auchengray and the surrounding area: careful preparation, the right product and tidy work. Ask us for a quick quote.
- End caps that drip every time it rains
- Fascia boards with gaps between them
- Old gutter sealant that has let go
How to look after the new joints
Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. We recommend:
- Make sure downpipes aren’t blocked
- Clean out the gutters once or twice a year
- Keep ladders off the guttering
- Look for streaks or damp on the wall below gutters
Have a look at the gutter during a downpour. It’s the easiest time to see a leak.
A leaking garage frame lets water reach stored items. A reseal sorts it while the frame is sound.
How we handle gutter sealing in Auchengray
A leaking gutter joint marks the wall and wets the ground underneath. Often a reseal is enough, as long as the gutter is sound. We work on roofline trims, garage door frames and uPVC fascias, and people most often call us about old sealant on roofline trims that has split and garage door frames letting rain in.
Older stone buildings need a sealant that suits the stone, not an acetoxy product that can mark or attack it. On newer homes, the movement joints and roofline trims are what need watching.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after we have gone.

Walls and rooflines in Auchengray
Private landlords in Scotland must meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping a home wind and watertight, and sound outside sealant is part of that. Plenty of Scottish homes have harled walls, and where harling meets frames, pipes and other materials, the joint needs a flexible sealant that grips a rough surface.
For an older house near a landmark such as Auchengray Church, the joints between older walls, newer extensions and the roofline need a sealant that can move.

What the job involves on each surface
Soffit joints
Soffit board joints can separate over time. We seal them to close the gaps.
uPVC fascias
Joints between fascia boards can open over time. We seal them neatly with a matching sealant where possible.
What sealant work cannot fix
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what sealant can’t fix:
- Problems with the roof covering
- A gutter length that has split
- Downpipes that are blocked or broken
Not sure which it is? You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly.

What happens on the day
Once we are on site, we check the joints match what you told us. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run. In smaller Scottish places, parking is usually less of an issue than access and distance. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints, and the visit is planned around that.
- First, we find the drip and check the gutter isn’t cracked or sagging.
- The joint or trim is cleaned out and old sealant removed.
- We make sure the joint is dry before sealing.
- Gutter or exterior sealant is applied and finished.
- We look along the gutter and clear debris around the joints.
How to prepare
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
- Clear items away from the joints we are working on
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work

Advice
Auchengray: your questions answered
Do you cover smaller places like Auchengray?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across all of Scotland. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Do you cover Auchengray for gutter sealing?
Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Auchengray is part of that. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.
Where do you work from?
We’re a Crawley-based firm, with over 20 years’ experience. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We are fully insured, and we’ve been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.
How long before the joint can be used?
Many sealants skin over quickly but take longer to cure fully. We will tell you how long to leave the joint.
Which products do you use?
Each joint gets the product that suits it. Movement, water and weather all affect the choice.
Will it make a mess?
Tidy work is part of the job. We protect what’s around the joints, and we clear up when we’re done.
Can you seal over the old sealant?
No. Fresh sealant does not stick to old sealant, and anything trapped underneath, including mould and water, stays there. We remove it all first.
Should I try it myself first?
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
Do you need gutter sealing in Auchengray?
Overflowing gutters can look like leaking joints. If the downpipe is blocked, water has nowhere to go so we check the cause first.
Any of these means the joints need attention:
- Cracked sealant along roofline trims
- End caps that drip every time it rains
- Streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint
- Rain getting in around a garage door
If you let a flat or house near Breich station, leaking gutter joints on a rental are best caught before they stain the walls.
