Glazing silicone for conservatories, rooflights, glass panels and shower screens for Glasgow, backed by a 12-month guarantee. Ask us for a quote.
- Leaking glazing joints on a rooflight
- Conservatory leaks at frame and glazing joints
- Water tracking down the inner face of the glass
Do you need glazing silicone in Glasgow?
New silicone over old silicone won’t bond. Plenty of leaks come from a quick top-up over the old bead, and water gets between the layers.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Sealant that was laid over old silicone and failed
- Failed sealant around rooflight glass
- Water running down inside the glass
- Silicone pulling away from the glass
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Our Lady and St Margaret's Primary School, the mastic around its windows and doors needs looking after like any other building’s.

Glazing silicone for homes and businesses in Glasgow
Sealant on glazing doesn’t last for ever. Weather and movement take their toll and cracked joints let water in. Renewing it keeps glazing joints doing their job. Typical jobs include failed sealant around rooflight glass and sealant that was laid over old silicone and failed, across conservatory frames, rooflights and glass-to-glass joints.
Glasgow is in one of Scotland’s four big cities, where many older buildings are sandstone or granite. Natural stone around older windows needs a sealant that won’t mark or attack it, so acetoxy silicones, which can attack some stone, are best avoided.
Each job carries a 12-month guarantee, large or small.
Surface by surface
Glass-to-glass joints
Where two panes meet, the silicone joint takes all the movement. The bead needs to be tidy and fully bonded.
Conservatory frames
Conservatory frame joints are a common source of leaks. We remove the failed sealant and renew it.
What we can’t put right
New sealant can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. Sealant won’t put right:
- A frame that needs repairing or replacing
- A sealed unit that has misted inside
- A broken pane or roof panel

Why it’s worth doing now in Glasgow
Replacing windows or a shower screen is not needed for a failed joint. If the glass and frame are sound, new silicone is often all it takes, and we will tell you if that is not the case. Scottish rain finds any gap around a frame or wall joint, and in a tall building in Glasgow, damp can travel a long way before it shows.
The cost reflects the work involved, not a rough estimate. That is why we ask a few questions first and send you a clear quote before we start.

FAQs for Glasgow
Can you do glazing silicone in Glasgow?
Yes, Glasgow is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job.
How is work on the outside of a tenement in Glasgow generally arranged?
Most tenements arrange shared repairs through the owners or a property factor. The Tenements (Scotland) Act 2004 sets the rules for common parts if the deeds do not, and we can quote for the factor or the owners directly.
What information do you need?
Let us know what needs doing and where, with pictures by email if possible. We’ll ask anything else we need to know.
Do you replace glass?
Glass replacement is not our trade. We reseal the joints around it, and we’ll tell you if a unit looks like it has failed.
Where do you work from?
Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. Our applicators cover Glasgow, along with the rest of our area.
How long does glazing silicone take?
That depends on how much there is to do, but most jobs take a few hours, depending on how many joints need doing. We will give you a better idea when we quote.
Can you reseal the base of a glass balustrade?
We can. The old sealant is removed and the joint resealed with a suitable product.
Which products do you use?
The product depends on the job: sanitary silicone where it gets wet, and sealants suited to movement or weather elsewhere. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.
Quotes for glazing silicone in Glasgow
Your quote is based on your job. We look at:
- Access and height
- Any mould that needs treating
- The amount of work
- The product the joint needs

What we need to know
A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:
- A few pictures by email, if you can
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved

DIY sealant or a professional job?
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
How the visit works
At the end, we look at the finished work together and explain the cure time. The visit itself usually takes anything from an hour or two to most of a day, depending on the size of the job, depending on how much there is to do. Parking in city streets around Glasgow can be tight or controlled, so it helps to know about permits or nearby bays. If you are in a flat, let us know how we get in at the street door.
- We look at the glazing and agree which joints need resealing.
- We cut away the failed silicone.
- We clean and prepare the joint.
- New glazing silicone goes in and is finished neatly.
- We inspect the work and test it where we can.
How to prepare
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed

Windows and doors in Glasgow
Many older homes in Scotland have sash and case windows, and the joint between the box frame and the stone or render is traditionally pointed with sand mastic. Much of Glasgow is built from red and blond sandstone, and porous sandstone needs a sealant that won’t mark it.
Rented homes near Anderston station change hands often, and a shower screen or conservatory joint that leaks is easier to reseal while the property is empty. Historic houses such as Tenement House, about 1 mile north, show how far back building around Glasgow goes.
