Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Westridge
Kitchens need the same care as bathrooms. Worktop upstands, sink edges and splashback joints all take splashes every day, and water behind a laminate worktop can make it swell. Kitchen joints get a sealant suited to kitchens, colour-matched where it shows. We work on wet rooms, baths and sinks & splashbacks, and common reasons people get in touch are a bead that has pulled away from the tiles and water getting behind the bath panel.
Somewhere as small as Westridge, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.
You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything isn’t right with it, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us.

Surface by surface
Baths
Baths move more than any other fitting, so it’s filled with water before the bead goes on. The joint is then laid with the bath at its lowest point and isn’t torn the first time it’s used.
Basins & vanity units
The back of a basin gets wet every time someone washes. Corners behind basins are where mould tends to start, and we treat it exactly as we would a bath.
Leave it or put it right?
Leaving a split or mouldy bead only stores up trouble. Water that gets behind a bath soaks into the floor, the panel and sometimes the ceiling below, turning a small job into a building repair. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Westridge, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part.

What happens on the day
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Show us the job and we’ll take it from there. The work itself takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. Somewhere like Westridge needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
- We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, generally around 24 hours.
How to prepare
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
- Tell us about any water getting in

Keeping the joints in good condition
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
- Give the silicone its full cure time
- Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
- Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
Keep bottles and razors off the sealant line, as they hold water against it. Squeegeeing the walls and tray after use keeps water from sitting on the joint.
A split bead lets water through every time the bath or shower is used. Left alone, it soaks into the floor, the wall behind the tiles or the ceiling below. Early resealing closes the gap before damage is done.
Common problems we fix in Westridge
Not every tube in the shop is meant for a shower. Acrylic caulk and general-purpose sealants aren’t designed for a joint that’s wet every day, so they crack, discolour or grow mould quickly. Wet areas call for a sanitary silicone with an anti-fungal additive.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
- Damp behind the bath or under the tray
- A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
- A reseal done over the top of the old bead
If you live in an older home near St John's Church, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.
What your quote should include
- Whether VAT is included
- What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
- How the colour is chosen
- How long the guarantee is
