How it works
Good joint work is mostly preparation, and we don’t rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. All told, the work takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. For a village or hamlet like Wellow, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead, including the film left on the tiles.
- Next, the joint is cleaned and any mould is treated.
- The joint is left to dry, and baths are filled with water first.
- A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
- We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, usually after around 24 hours.
How to prepare
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- Clear the area around the work
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts

About our bathroom resealing in Wellow
The bead of silicone around a bath, tray or worktop is what keeps water out of the gaps. When it splits, shrinks or turns black, water gets behind it and into the wall or floor. Every trace of the old sealant is taken out and replaced with anti-fungal sanitary silicone. We’re often asked to deal with gaps between the worktop and the wall and damp behind the bath or under the tray, on baths, kitchen worktops & upstands and shower trays & enclosures.
Somewhere as small as Wellow, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right with it, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Wellow homes and their sealant
Wellow is within about 2 miles of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
Schools such as Shalfleet Church of England Primary School are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

Do you need bathroom resealing in Wellow?
Silicone doesn’t last for ever. Daily water, heat and cleaning products slowly wear it down, and how long it lasts comes down to use, cleaning and ventilation.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:
- Water escaping at the shower enclosure
- Splits where the tray meets the wall
- Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
- A reseal done over the top of the old bead
Homes close to Wellow Baptist Church include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.
What to look for in a quote
- Whether they’re fully insured
- How the joint is cleaned and prepared
- What product goes in the joint
- Who turns up on the day
Should I try it myself first?
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
How we quote for bathroom resealing
We do not publish a price list. What we look at:
- The number and length of the joints
- The number of rooms or windows
- How easy the joints are to reach
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
No two jobs are quite the same, so each one gets its own quote. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all make a difference.
Asking for a quote
There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- The rough size of the job
- What’s wrong with the joints now
- How we’d reach the joints

Your questions about bathroom resealing in Wellow
Is Wellow in your area for bathroom resealing?
Yes, Wellow is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. You can call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.
Is Wellow within the area you cover?
Yes, Wellow is covered. We work across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Does someone need to be in?
Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. Indoors, that generally means someone at home.
How long before the new sealant can get wet?
The surface skins over fairly quickly, but the bead needs longer to cure right through. Leave it around 24 hours before it gets wet, or as long as we advise for that product.
How long does it take to reseal a bath or shower?
It takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom. We will confirm how long your job needs when we quote.
My sealant has gone black. Can you sort it?
Yes. Once mould has grown into the silicone, it generally cannot be cleaned out for good, so the bead comes out, the joint is treated and new anti-fungal silicone goes in.
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Always. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, so we never do it.
Will it make a mess?
We keep the work tidy. We protect what’s around the joints, and we clear up when we are done.
Keeping the joints in good condition
A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:
- Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
- Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
- Don’t leave water standing on kitchen joints
- Wipe the sealant dry after showering
In a kitchen, do not let water sit along the back of the worktop and keep hot pans away from the silicone. A dry joint lasts longer.
Small signs come before a leak: lifting ends, gaps, dark shadows under the bead or a stain downstairs. If you spot one, it’s time to reseal.
Why act early in Wellow
A quick bead over the top of the old one might look better for a while, but it can’t stick to what’s underneath. Water creeps under it and mould follows, so the next person has twice as much to remove. Older cottages and farmhouses around Wellow can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You’ll know the price before we begin.
