St Mary's Bay Bathroom Resealing
Baths, showers and worktops in St Mary's Bay need attention? We remove the old material, prepare the joints and seal them properly, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
- Two layers of silicone, both failing
- A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
- Water escaping at the shower enclosure
How we handle bathroom resealing in St Mary's Bay
Before a bath is sealed, it’s filled with water. The weight settles the bath to its lowest point, so the new joint isn’t pulled apart the first time it’s used. It’s a small step that rushed reseals tend to skip. If you are dealing with gaps between the worktop and the wall and lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt, we can put it right, whatever the surface.
In a smaller place like St Mary's Bay, homes are mostly houses and bungalows rather than flats, some older and some much newer. Bathrooms and kitchens here get the same daily wear as anywhere, and the sealant and grout show it first.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right with it in that time, tell us and we’ll put it right.

Why deal with it now?
Sorting it now is quick: it takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. Wait for a leak and you may be looking at panels off, drying out and redecorating too. Homes in smaller places like St Mary's Bay can face more weather, and failed outside joints let damp into walls. Indoors, a failed seal lets water into floors and panels as it would anywhere.
Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.
What you get with us

- Colour agreed with you before we start

What sealant work cannot fix
We will not take on work that will not last, so here’s what sealant cannot put right:
- Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
- A leaking waste, trap or valve

How we quote for bathroom resealing
We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:
- The number of rooms or windows
- The number and length of the joints
- When we can work, for business premises
- Whether the work is at height
The cost depends on the size of the job, how hard the old material is to remove and access to the work. We give a clear quote before work begins, so you know where you stand.
What we need to know
Photos help, but a description is a good start. Please mention:
- The rough size of the job
- What’s wrong with the joints now

Is bathroom resealing in St Mary's Bay guaranteed?

I rent my home. Can I book you?
Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.
What sealant do you use?
Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, picked for each joint. We will tell you what we’re using and why.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Yes. Sealing over old sealant is the main reason resealing fails early, and it’s something we never do.
Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Yes. Just list everything you need and you will get one quote.
Is it messy?
We keep the work tidy. Nearby surfaces are protected, and the area is left clean when we finish.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. We’re an ARBOMaster approved applicator, the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants.
What bathroom resealing looks like in St Mary's Bay
St Mary's Bay is close to the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
Schools such as The Marsh Academy are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

Looking after it afterwards
No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:
- Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
- Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
- Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
- Wipe the sealant dry after showering
Give the silicone time to cure before it gets wet, which is generally around 24 hours. Once it’s cured, wiping it down after use keeps it looking new.
There’s no need to wait for a full refurbishment. Like paintwork, sealant needs renewing from time to time, and replacing it when it fails protects the rest of the room.
When to call us in St Mary's Bay
A bath shifts a little every time it’s filled and emptied. An acrylic bath flexes under load, while a poorly supported tray can shift underfoot. Over time the joint tears or pulls away from the tile.
Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
- Black mould in the silicone that will not clean off
- Water getting behind the bath panel
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
If you live in an older home near All Saints, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

How it works
Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and explain the cure time. The work normally takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower, depending on the size of the job. A visit to St Mary's Bay is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. Outdoor jobs depend on a dry day, since sealant needs a dry surface.
- We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
- The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, normally around 24 hours.
How to prepare
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Clear items away from the joints we are working on
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints

Advice
Different surfaces, different methods
Wet rooms
A wet room floor and its walls can move independently, so the corners need a flexible seal, not grout. Cracked grout in a corner can be cut out and replaced with silicone.
Basins & vanity units
The back of a basin gets wet every time someone washes. Old sealant there often goes black at the corners, and we treat it exactly as we would a bath.
