Newchurch questions

Can you do bathroom resealing in Newchurch?

Yes, Newchurch is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. You can call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and let us know what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

Is Newchurch within the area you cover?

Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we tidy up before we go.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work in homes, commercial premises and hotels.

Where do you work from?

Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. We cover Newchurch and the rest of Kent, along with the rest of our area.

Is white the only colour available?

White and clear are the most common choices, and other colours are available to suit tiles, trays and worktops. Let us know your preference when you ask for a quote.

Do I need to be at home?

That depends on where the joints are. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in, and for outside work we will agree access with you when we book.

Can you just seal over the old silicone?

No. Fresh silicone can’t stick to the old bead, so it peels away and hides mould and water. We always take the old sealant out completely.

Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Newchurch

It isn’t only bathrooms. The joint between worktop and wall, the edge of the sink and the bottom of the splashback get wet every single day, and water behind a laminate worktop can make it swell. Kitchen joints get a sealant suited to kitchens, colour-matched where it shows. We are often asked to deal with water getting behind the kitchen upstand and a messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal, across shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and sinks & splashbacks.

Somewhere as small as Newchurch, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Movement in older walls and floors tends to show first as cracked grout or split sealant.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by our 12-month guarantee.

Silicone being applied where a shower enclosure meets beige wall tiles

Surface by surface

Sinks & splashbacks

Where a splashback meets the worktop, there’s a joint that catches every splash. We renew it in clear, white or a matched colour.

Shower trays & enclosures

A tray that rocks will split any sealant. We check for movement before we reseal, and tell you if it needs re-bedding first.

How the visit works

Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. For most jobs that takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom, and the area is left clean. Somewhere like Newchurch needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed, including the film left on the tiles.
  2. We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
  3. Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
  4. New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
  5. Finally we tidy up and explain the cure time before we leave.

Preparing for the visit

  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
  • Tell us if parking is tricky

Honest limits

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • A tray or bath that is cracked through
  • A leaking waste, trap or valve
  • A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded

Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing

For a quick quote, just ask. The main things that affect it are:

  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • Which sealant suits the joint
  • The number of rooms or windows
  • The number and length of the joints

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs, along with when we can work on site. Ask us for a quote and we will explain what it covers.

Asking for a quote

To help us quote quickly, please include:

  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • Where the job is, and your postcode

There’s no standard price list. Instead, we give you a clear price for your job. To arrange one, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

How to look after the new joints

Good habits help new joints last longer. Our tips:

  • Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
  • Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
  • Wipe the sealant dry after showering
  • Dry worktop joints after washing up

Good ventilation does more than any cleaner. Run the extractor fan during and after a shower, so the silicone gets a chance to dry.

A split bead lets water through every time the bath or shower is used. Left alone, it soaks into the floor, the wall behind the tiles or the ceiling below. Resealing early stops it.

Common problems we fix in Newchurch

Plenty of failed sealant has been laid over the top of older sealant. Fresh silicone cannot grip the old bead underneath, so it peels, leaks and hides mould behind it.

Common reasons people contact us are:

  • Black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off
  • Splits where the tray meets the wall
  • Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
  • Gaps between the worktop and the wall

Letting a property close to Ham Street station? Then mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.

Before you book anyone

  • When the joint can take water or movement
  • Is the old sealant removed completely?
  • Which sealant they’ll use, and why
  • How much experience the applicator has
