Bathroom Resealing in South Bersted
Our applicators work in South Bersted on bath, shower, basin, wet room, worktop and sink resealing. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly and every job guaranteed for a year.
- Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
- Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
- Water escaping at the shower enclosure
Bathroom resealing in South Bersted
It is not only bathrooms. The joint between worktop and wall, the edge of the sink and the bottom of the splashback all take splashes every day, and water behind a laminate worktop can make it swell. We reseal them with a kitchen-suitable silicone, matched to the worktop where it’s on show. We’re often asked to deal with failed sealant on the screen profile and a reseal done over the top of the old bead, on baths, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures.
Even in a smaller place like South Bersted, bathrooms and kitchens see heavy daily use. Whether it’s a cottage bathroom or a newer en suite, the approach is the same: old sealant or grout cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.
Each job carries a 12-month guarantee, large or small.

Why deal with it now?
Dealing with sealant early is a short job: it takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. Left until water gets through, the job can grow to lifting panels, drying out and decorating. In a smaller place like South Bersted, wherever a wall is exposed, a failed outside joint is a real source of damp. Inside, a split seal lets water into floors and panels just as it would anywhere.
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

What we do, step by step
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we’ll get on with it. The job generally takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is from start to finish. Parking around South Bersted is normally easier than in a town centre, but mention any lanes, gates or long drives. For outside work, side access and the height of the joints help us plan.
- We protect the area and cut out all of the old sealant.
- We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
- We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
- New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
- Finally we tidy up and explain the cure time before we leave.
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit

Related advice
Looking after it afterwards
No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:
- Dry the bead with a towel now and then
- Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth
- Give the silicone its full cure time
- Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead
Have a look at the joints every few months. A small split or a corner lifting is easy to spot, and if anything looks wrong, just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.
A few black dots in the silicone soon become a black line. Once it’s deep in the silicone, cleaning normally will not remove it, and nearby grout often goes the same way. Replacing the sealant early keeps the job small.
Your questions about bathroom resealing in South Bersted
Do you take on hotel work around South Bersted?
Yes, we work for hotels as well as homes and businesses. A room-by-room programme keeps most rooms in use while the work goes on.
Will you come out to South Bersted?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Will it make a mess?
No. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.
Can new silicone go straight over the old?
No. A bead laid over old silicone soon starts to come away, because silicone doesn’t bond to silicone. We remove the old bead completely before resealing.
Should I try DIY first?
For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.
Does someone need to be in?
For indoor joints, yes, someone needs to let us in. Once we have agreed the job, you do not need to watch us work.
Do the sealants smell?
That depends on the sealant. Some products have a noticeable smell, others very little, and any smell fades as they cure.
Where is Mr Mastic based?
We are a Crawley-based firm. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.
When it isn’t the sealant
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- Movement from a bath with loose feet or no proper support
- Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
- Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

What we are called out for in South Bersted
Plenty of failed sealant has been laid over the top of older sealant. Fresh silicone can’t grip the old bead underneath, so it lifts, lets water in and traps mould underneath.
The problems people usually mention when they call are:
- Gaps between the worktop and the wall
- Water getting behind the bath panel
- Splits where the tray meets the wall
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
Managing a site like South Bersted CofE Primary School? Then its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

Can I do it myself?
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
For landlords and businesses
Hotels need rooms back in use, so we plan the work room by room. We’ve worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.
Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy, and it’s easy to sort out between tenants. Several properties can go on one quote.
South Bersted homes and their sealant
South Bersted is within about 1 mile of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
Rented homes near Bognor Regis station change hands often, and a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for. In the older streets around Church of St Mary Magdalene, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.
