Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Privett

Kitchens need the same care as bathrooms. Worktop upstands, sink edges and splashback joints get wet every single day, and water behind a laminate worktop can make it swell. We reseal them with a kitchen-suitable silicone, matched to the worktop where it’s on show. We work on wet rooms, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & upstands, and people most often call us about black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off and water escaping at the shower enclosure.

In and around Privett, older properties sit alongside newer ones. In older homes, walls and floors can move a little more, so the right flexible sealant matters.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by our one-year guarantee in Privett and across Hampshire.

Honest limits

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what new sealant won’t do:

  • Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
  • A leaking waste, trap or valve
  • Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint

If you’re not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer.

DIY versus a professional finish

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.

Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

Keeping the joints in good condition

A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:

  • Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
  • Run the extractor fan during and after every shower
  • Dry worktop joints after washing up
  • Never pick at the silicone with a blade

Give the silicone time to cure before it gets wet, following the cure time we give you. Once it’s cured, wiping it down after use keeps it looking new.

There’s no need to wait for a full refurbishment. Sealant is a maintenance item, like the paint on a window frame, and renewing it as soon as it fails protects everything around it.

How it works

We work through the job in order: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. For most jobs that takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower and we leave things clean and tidy. A visit to Privett is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. If the work is outside, the weather plays a part, as sealant needs a dry surface.

  1. Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
  2. Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us if parking is tricky
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area
  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can

Bathroom resealing around Privett

Privett is close to the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Privett. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room.

In the older streets around St Faith's Church, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. Letting a property close to Portsmouth Harbour station? Then mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets. Managing a site like Gomer Infant School? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

Privett is about 1 mile south-west of Gosport, in Hampshire. Every kind of property in Privett is covered for bathroom resealing. The work is guaranteed for a year. Our Hampshire coverage runs to 683 places, Privett among them.

We cover every part of the PO12 and PO13 postcode area for bathroom resealing and the streets around it. If you need bathroom resealing at a property on Bay Road, Gomer Lane and Vectis Road or a nearby road, our applicators can take on the job. We also cover the places around Privett: Alverstoke (1 mile south-east), Clayhall (1 mile south-east), Haslar (2 miles south-east), Portsmouth Point (2 miles east) and Portsea (2 miles east). Larger places within reach include Havant (9 miles north-east), Eastleigh (14 miles north-west), Fareham (4 miles north), Horndean (10 miles north-east), Hedge End (10 miles north-west) and Waterlooville (8 miles north-east).

How the job changes by surface

Baths

Baths move more than any other fitting, so we fill it with water before sealing. The joint is then laid with the bath at its lowest point and is not torn the first time it’s used.

Sinks & splashbacks

Splashbacks in glass, tile or acrylic meet the worktop in a long joint. It’s resealed in white, clear or a colour to suit.

Leave it or put it right?

Mould removers can fade the surface of a stained bead, but mould that has grown into the sealant tends to return. Cutting it out and resealing with anti-fungal silicone is the fix that lasts. Around Privett, water from a failed joint in an older home can soak into timber and plaster, and that’s a much bigger job than renewing the sealant.

Combining jobs into one visit normally makes better use of the time than several visits, so it’s worth mentioning everything you’d like done. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.
