Bathroom resealing in Pittulie, done properly
Showers work their sealant harder than baths. Trays, enclosures, screen profiles and wet room floors all need a flexible, waterproof seal. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, finished smooth so water drains away rather than collecting. If you have black spots spreading through the bead and a bead that has pulled away from the tiles, we can help, on kitchen worktops & upstands, sinks & splashbacks and basins & vanity units alike.
A bathroom in a place like Pittulie gets the same daily wear as one in a city flat. Limescale is less of a problem with Scotland’s generally soft water, but mould still takes hold in damp sealant and grout.
We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we will sort it.

How the job changes by surface
Baths
Acrylic baths flex the most, and even steel and cast iron baths settle slightly when full. Loading the bath with water before sealing allows for it.
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Laminate worktops swell if water gets into the core. A continuous bead along the back keeps water out.

Questions from Pittulie
Do you cover smaller places like Pittulie?
Yes. Pittulie is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Is there a guarantee on bathroom resealing in Pittulie?
All our work, in Pittulie and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
Where are you based?
We work from Crawley. Our applicators cover Pittulie, along with the rest of our area.
Can you just seal over the old silicone?
No. Fresh silicone cannot stick to the old bead, so it peels away and hides mould and water. All the old sealant comes out first.
My sealant has gone black. Can you sort it?
Yes. Mould inside the bead rarely cleans out for good, so we cut it out, treat the joint and reseal with anti-fungal silicone.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. We’re approved under the ARBOMaster scheme, which is run for the Arbo sealant brand.
Is it messy?
No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.
Do I need to be at home?
Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. Indoors, that normally means someone at home.
Landlord and commercial work in Pittulie
A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.
Housing providers, facilities teams and property managers book us too. We can quote a run of properties together, and we’re fully insured for the work.
When it is not the sealant
Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what new sealant won’t do:
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
- A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
- Failed grout lines across the wall
If you’re not sure, just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

How to look after the new joints
After the cure time, these simple habits help:
- Keep bottles off the sealant line
- Never pick at the silicone with a blade
- Dry worktop joints after washing up
- Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
Wipe up standing water along the worktop joint and keep hot pans away from the silicone. A dry joint lasts longer.
Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. Once it’s deep in the silicone, cleaning normally won’t remove it. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.
When to call us in Pittulie
Mould is the reason many people want their sealant replaced. Steamy rooms that don’t dry out give mould all the damp it needs, and once it has grown into the bead, cleaning rarely gets it out.
Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:
- Mouldy sealant that has gone black
- Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
- Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Fraserburgh Academy, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

Why it’s worth doing now in Pittulie
A quick bead over the top of the old one might look better for a while, but it cannot stick to what’s underneath. It lifts, traps water and grows mould behind it, and the next reseal means two layers to cut out. When the nearest tradesperson is a drive away, it’s tempting to leave a small leak, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, plus any working-time requirements on site. Ask us for a quote and we’ll go through it with you.
Why Pittulie clients choose us
- More than 20 years in sealant work
- White, clear, grey or coloured to suit, where the product allows
- Anti-fungal silicone where joints get wet
- Colour picked to suit the job
How the visit works
There’s no need to move everything out before we come, only the area right around the joints. We protect the rest, and the work takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included for a typical job. Outdoor work around Pittulie depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.
- We protect the area and cut out all of the old sealant, including the film left on the tiles.
- Next, the joint is cleaned and any mould is treated.
- Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
- New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
- Finally we tidy up and explain the cure time before we leave.
Before we arrive
- For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
- Clear the area around the work
