Bathroom resealing in Northwood

Bathroom resealing in Northwood, done properly

Kitchens need the same care as bathrooms. The joint between worktop and wall, the edge of the sink and the bottom of the splashback all take splashes every day, and water behind a laminate worktop can make it swell. We reseal them with a kitchen-suitable silicone, matched to the worktop where it’s on show. If you have water getting behind the bath panel and failed sealant on the screen profile, we can put it right, whatever the surface.

Smaller places like Northwood still have plenty of bathrooms that work hard every day. Older or newer, every room gets the same approach: old sealant or grout cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.

You are covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

FAQs for Northwood

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Ramsgate station?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can go on one quote. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we will give you a clear quote.

Will you come out to Northwood?

Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Should I try DIY first?

For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.

Will there be a smell?

There can be a smell while the sealant cures. Ventilation helps.

Do you work for hotels and businesses?

Yes, regularly. Larger jobs can be planned room by room or area by area to suit the site.

Which products do you use?

The product depends on the job: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.

What should I tell you?

The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. Photos by email help too.

Are you insured?

Yes. Full insurance covers our work, and we can confirm the details when we quote.

What sealant work can’t fix

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
  • Failed grout lines across the wall
  • A bath or tray that moves because it is not properly supported

If you are not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

What we seal

  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units

When to call us in Northwood

Not every tube in the shop is meant for a shower. Acrylic caulk and general-purpose sealants are not designed for a joint that is wet every day, so they stain, crack or go mouldy before long. A bathroom joint needs anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:

  • Gaps between the worktop and the wall
  • Mouldy sealant that has gone black
  • A joint torn by a bath that flexes
  • Damp behind the bath or under the tray

For landlords with property near Ramsgate station, a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for.

What your quote should include

  • Who turns up on the day
  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • Whether VAT is included
  • How the colour is chosen

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing

You will get a clear quote before any work starts. It takes into account:

  • The number of rooms or windows
  • The type of sealant required
  • Access and height
  • When we can work, for business premises

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

What to tell us for a quote

To make quoting easier, please include:

  • Where the property is
  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • The rough size of the job
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs

It all starts with a short chat. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job. When it suits you, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

How the visit works

On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Show us the job and we will take it from there. The job generally takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. For a job in Northwood, we agree the time, the access and parking before the day. If the work is outside, the weather plays a part, as sealant needs a dry surface.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
  • Move anything stored near the joints
  • Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work

Aftercare tips

A little care helps the new joints last. We recommend:

  • Never pick at the silicone with a blade
  • Wipe the sealant dry after showering
  • Don’t let bottles sit on the bead
  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner

Don’t stand bottles along the bead, because they trap water against the silicone. Squeegeeing the walls and tray after use helps the joint dry.

Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out, and nearby grout often goes the same way. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.

Different surfaces, different methods

Kitchen worktops & upstands

The joint between worktop and wall takes splashes, crumbs and cleaning sprays. We seal them in a colour that suits the worktop, so the line doesn’t stand out.

Basins & vanity units

Basin joints are short and close to eye level: so we keep the line tidy and even, finished in a colour that suits the basin.

Bathroom resealing around Northwood

Northwood is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Northwood. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room.

Schools such as Dame Janet Primary Academy are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. If you live in an older home near St Mark's Church, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
