Bathroom resealing in Iping, done properly

Mr Mastic has more than 20 years’ experience of sealant work, and our applicators reseal bathrooms and kitchens across Iping. We are ARBOMaster approved and fully insured, and the work comes with a 12-month guarantee. We work on baths, basins & vanity units and sinks & splashbacks, and common reasons people get in touch are shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop and two layers of silicone, both failing.

Being in a small place like Iping makes no difference to the job itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.

Each job carries a 12-month guarantee.

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:

  • The number of rooms or windows
  • Whether the work is at height
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • Working hours on commercial sites

Combining jobs into one visit is normally more efficient than separate visits. We’ll send you a clear quote for the lot.

Helping us quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • A few pictures by email, if you can
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • Whether it’s a home or a business

For a quick quote, get us on the phone, or email us if that is easier. Describe what needs sealing and we’ll explain what’s involved.

What happens on the day

Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and tell you how long to leave it. The work normally takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen, depending on the size of the job. Somewhere like Iping needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead, including the film left on the tiles.
  2. We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
  4. New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
  5. We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, usually after around 24 hours.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules

Can I do it myself?

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is.

Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.

Do you need bathroom resealing in Iping?

The wrong product fails fast. Decorators’ caulk and all-purpose sealants are not made for constant wetting, so they stain, crack or go mouldy before long. A bathroom joint needs anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
  • A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
  • A reseal done over the top of the old bead
  • Gaps between the worktop and the wall

In the older streets around Church of St Mary, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

What your quote should include

  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • Who does the work, and how experienced they are
  • What preparation is included
  • Which sealant they’ll use, and why

Iping questions

Do you cover Iping for bathroom resealing?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Iping is part of that. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job.

Will you come out to Iping?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

How much does bathroom resealing cost in Iping?

Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Ask us for a quote and we’ll talk you through it.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. Full insurance covers our work, and we can confirm the details when we quote.

Is it worth trying it myself?

It depends on the job. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

Our base is in Crawley, West Sussex, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.

How long will the resealing take?

It depends on how many joints there are and how much old sealant has to come out. Allow a couple of hours for a typical bath or shower.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes. Every job carries our 12-month guarantee.

Leave it or put it right?

Running new silicone over the old joint can look tidy for a few weeks, but it will not bond. Water creeps under it and mould follows, so the next person has twice as much to remove. Around Iping, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.

Instead of a standard rate, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.

Why book with us

  • We’re fully insured
  • We leave the area clean and tidy
  • A 12-month guarantee on all work
  • Sanitary silicone with an anti-fungal additive in wet areas

Honest limits

We’d rather tell you now than do work that will not last, so here’s what sealant cannot put right:

  • A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
  • Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
  • A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)

If you’re not sure, just ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will give you a straight answer.
