Iping External Mastic
Our applicators work in Iping on sealing brickwork movement joints, render, cladding and façade joints. Old sealant removed completely, joints prepared properly and every job guaranteed for a year.
- Movement joints filled with mortar instead of sealant
- Plants rooting in failed movement joints
- Rain getting behind render or cladding at a joint
External mastic in Iping, done properly
Where two different materials meet, such as brick and render or blockwork and metal, they move at different rates. A flexible sealant bridges the two where mortar or filler would crack. We’re often asked to deal with leaking joints around cladding and façade panels and weeds or debris growing in open joints, across brickwork movement joints, joints between brick and frames and façade panels.
In a village or hamlet like Iping, older cottages and farm buildings often stand in the open, so walls and rooflines take the full force of wind and rain. Gutter joints and wall joints there need a sealant that can flex and stay put.
Each job carries a 12-month guarantee, whatever its size.

How the visit works
When we get to you, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. Most jobs then take a few hours to a few days, depending on the length of joint and the access. Somewhere like Iping needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- First, the joints are inspected and the access agreed.
- We cut out the old mastic and rake out anything in the joint.
- Joint faces are cleaned back and primed if the sealant needs it.
- We fit closed-cell backing rod to control the depth.
- We apply the sealant, tool it and check the whole run.

External mastic in Iping: local notes
Historic houses like Cowdray House (about 2.5 miles east) are a reminder that the area around Iping has older buildings as well as new. Where a home is older, older brick and stone need a sealant that suits them, at the right joint depth. London and the South East are among the drier parts of the UK, but outside sealant still needs a dry, clean surface, so outdoor work is planned around the forecast.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Stedham Primary School, movement joints, cladding joints and gutters on larger buildings need the same care as a house’s. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Mary, the joints between older walls, newer extensions and the roofline need a sealant that can move. If you let a flat or house near Liphook station, split movement joints are easy to miss on a rental until damp shows inside.

Quotes for external mastic in Iping
Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:
- The number and length of the joints
- Access and height
- Any working-time requirements on site
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
Leaving a failed joint normally makes the job bigger, not smaller, as water and mould keep getting in. If you are not sure whether it needs doing, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us for an honest opinion and a quote.
What to tell us for a quote
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:
- Whether it has been sealed before
- The address or postcode of the job
- Roughly how big the job is
- The type of property
If you are in Iping and need external mastic, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email. A short description of the job and where it is helps us quote, and you’ll get a clear quote before any work starts.
Looking after it afterwards
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Point out the joints to other trades
- Keep movement joints as flexible joints, not mortar
- Get split or bare joints resealed while the damage is small
- Look over the joints every year, ideally after winter
Do not let soil, plants or ivy build up against the new joints. Anything that holds water against the joint wears it out sooner.
Act while the splits are small. At that stage it’s a simple cut out and reseal before water has had years to get in.
When something else is needed
A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:
- Render that’s blown, hollow or coming away
- Structural movement, which needs a surveyor or engineer
- Damp from another source, such as a leaking gutter or a bridged damp-proof course
If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will say what we think before you book.
What we seal
- Concrete & block
- Render & cladding joints
- Copings & trims
- Brickwork movement joints
- Façade panels
- Joints between brick and frames
Surface by surface
Concrete and blockwork
Big joints in concrete need careful depth control. Backing rod sized to the joint sets it and keep the sealant to the right depth.
Copings and trims
A failed coping joint lets water into the top of the wall. Resealing them is a small job that protects a lot.
FAQs for Iping
Will you come out to Iping?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Is Iping in your area for external mastic?
Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Iping is part of that. You can call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and let us know what needs doing.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Yes, always, and completely. New sealant will not bond properly to old, so the joint is cleaned back first.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator and we’re fully insured too.
What information do you need?
The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. Photos by email help too.
Is it OK to fill a movement joint with cement?
No, not if it’s a movement joint. Pointing it stops it working and can lead to cracking. We’ll reseal it with a flexible sealant.
When is the sealant fully cured?
Most sealants are touch-dry well before they’re fully cured. We’ll tell you how long to leave the joint.
Will the new joint stand out?
The aim is a neat, even joint in a colour that suits the wall. Colour is agreed with you before we begin from the range available.
DIY sealant or a professional job?
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is.
Why it’s worth doing now in Iping
Sealing over the top of old mastic doesn’t hold for long. New sealant does not bond well to old, weathered sealant, so the old joint is cut out fully first. Around Iping, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, along with when we can work on site. Ask us for a quote and we will go through it with you.
