Bathroom resealing in Ide Hill

Bathroom resealing in Ide Hill, done properly

Homes in Ide Hill have the same weak spots as anywhere else: the long edge of the bath, the base of the shower tray, the back of the basin and the line along the worktop. Every joint is cut out, cleaned and left dry before it’s resealed. We work on sinks & splashbacks, basins & vanity units and baths, and people most often call us about black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off and gaps between the worktop and the wall.

Being in a small place like Ide Hill makes no difference to the job itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.

Each job carries a 12-month guarantee, large or small.

Bathroom resealing around Ide Hill

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

If you live in an older home near Church of St Mary at South End of Village Green, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. If you look after a building such as Ide Hill Church of England Primary School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. For landlords with property near Sevenoaks station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.

Ide Hill is about 3 miles south-west of Sevenoaks, in Kent. Whether you’re in the middle of Ide Hill or further out, bathroom resealing is available for homes and businesses alike, from flats and houses to offices and hotels. Ide Hill is one of 922 places in Kent we cover for bathroom resealing. Crawley is on our list too, around 17 miles away.

Leave it or put it right?

You don’t need a new bathroom because the sealant looks bad. Replacing the joint is generally all it takes, as long as the fittings themselves are sound. If something else is wrong, we will tell you. Older cottages and farmhouses around Ide Hill can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.

The cost reflects the work involved, not a rough estimate. That’s why we ask a few questions first and give you a clear price before any work starts.

What you get with us

Take a look at what affects the cost and our reviews.

For landlords and businesses

Hotels need rooms back in use, so the work can be planned room by room around your bookings where we can. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.

From a single let to a portfolio, you get the same standard of work: the old material taken out, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee.

DIY versus a professional finish

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.

What we do, step by step

At the end, we look at the finished work together and explain the cure time. The work normally takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is, depending on the size of the job. Somewhere as small as Ide Hill, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
  2. We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
  5. We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
  • Move anything stored near the joints
  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive

Honest limits

To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:

  • Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that’s regrouting)
  • A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall

Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

What we seal

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units

Keeping the joints in good condition

A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:

  • Wipe the sealant dry after showering
  • Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
  • Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
  • Do not let bottles sit on the bead

Give the silicone time to cure before it gets wet, following the cure time we give you. After that, a quick wipe after showering helps keep it clean.

A failed kitchen joint is easy to miss. Splashes run behind the back edge and soak into the worktop, and the board underneath can swell. A reseal in time can save the worktop.

How we quote for bathroom resealing

Call for a quick quote. What matters most is:

  • When we can work, for business premises
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • Whether the work is at height

Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, the access and the products needed. Ask us for a quote and we will explain what it covers.

Helping us quote

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • A few photos by email, if you can
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • If someone has resealed it before

Every job is quoted individually. Simply phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and describe the job and send photos if you have them.
