Bathroom & kitchen resealing in Hound, Hampshire
Bathroom resealing across Hound and nearby, with old sealant always removed completely and a 12-month guarantee.
- Splits where the tray meets the wall
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
- Mouldy sealant that has gone black
What the job involves on each surface
Shower trays & enclosures
Shower trays are sealed to the wall, and enclosures are sealed to the tray and tiles. Both take water every day, so both are resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Laminate worktops swell if water gets into the core. A continuous bead along the back keeps water out, as long as the worktop itself is firmly fixed.
Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Hound
A shower joint gets soaked every day. Trays, enclosures, screen profiles and wet room floors all need a flexible, waterproof seal. Each gets a bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone, finished smooth so water drains away rather than collecting. If you have gaps between the worktop and the wall and new sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting, we can help, whatever the surface.
Homes around Hound are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. The work is the same as anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.
Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by our one-year guarantee.

How to look after the new joints
No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. A few tips:
- Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
- Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
- Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
- Dry the bead with a towel now and then
In a kitchen, don’t let water sit along the back of the worktop. A dry joint lasts longer.
Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.
What else we do in Hound
What happens if it’s left?
Most of the work in a good reseal happens before any silicone goes on: cutting out every trace of the old bead, cleaning, treating mould and letting the joint dry. Without that preparation, the new bead won’t last. In a small place like Hound, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You’ll know the price before we begin.

When it isn’t the sealant
In fairness, some problems need a different trade:
- Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
- A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported

Common questions in Hound
Is Hound within the area you cover?
Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Can you help a landlord with a rental near Netley station?
Yes. We work for landlords and agents as well as householders. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us with the address and what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.
How long will the resealing take?
A single bath or shower takes about a couple of hours, old sealant removal included. A full bathroom and kitchen can take most of a day.
How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?
Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Keep water off it for around 24 hours, or follow the cure time we give you.
Are you insured?
Yes. We’re fully insured, and we’ve been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.
Is it OK to put new sealant on top of the old bead?
No, and it’s one of the main reasons reseals fail. The old joint is stripped, cleaned and resealed from scratch.
Will you leave a mess?
No. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.
What information do you need?
A short description and the location. If we need more, we’ll ask.
How the visit works
When we get to you, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. Most jobs then take a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. Somewhere as small as Hound, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- We protect the area and cut out all of the old sealant, including the film left on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- The joint is left to dry, and baths are filled with water first.
- We apply anti-fungal sanitary silicone in one even bead and tool it neatly.
- We tidy up and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
Getting ready for the visit
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
Getting a quote
It all starts with a short chat. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is, and we will talk you through what we’d do. When it suits you, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us.

Bathroom resealing in Hound: local notes
Hound is within about 1 mile of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
For landlords with property near Netley station, a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as The Hamble School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. Homes close to Church of St Mary include some older properties, and walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.
